  2. What do you mean “haven’t found a house/apartment at the price they can afford”? Of course the prices skyrocketed for the last 6 years, but how is that possible that the US citizen arrives here and says “oh, it’s expensive”? Perhaps not Portugal itself but the whole EU is not their target then?

  3. I meet a lot Americans and they told they can't live with the so many burocracy, language, inmigration without control (YES in Portugal inmigration from poor countries like Africa,Brazil,Bangaladesh. The health system are bad and education also just in Sept 2024 a lot of schools, clolleges, high scholl don't have enough teachers, don't have doctors 😢😢😢

  4. Moved to EU 19yrs ago, never going back. Healthcare/medicine is practically free and college education cost less than 1000€ and in some countries almost free. Very happy with my new citizenship. Plus, I don't have to worry about getting shot because of gun violence.

  5. the irony of americans complaining about the house prices in Portugal is not lost. Since the expats from better economies that were willing to pay way above the average price for locals, because it was still much cheaper than what they were used to, is one of the main factors why prices went up. Locals were completely outbid, and now the prices wont go down because the government wont intervene and owners dont want to lose out on the extra profit….

  6. I have lived in Nigeria, Angola Ivory Coast, Chad, Equatorial Guinea,Morocco, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Canada, Papua New Guinea, Italy, Australia, and several other countries. You see, I work in the petrochemical industry, which has taken me around the world. I really liked living in Bahrain but it has become overcrowded and expensive. Italy was by far an excellent place to live. The housing in Italy is very affordable outside of the big cities. Morocco is also another great place to live. It was extremely affordable and the people were super nice. I’ve been looking into Portugal and home prices out in the country seem to be reasonable.some might take living in the country is too quiet. Believe me when I say in my life quiet is a good thing. Thank you for this video.

  7. I’m native Portuguese , but when I leave Portugal 14’years ago , never more can’t see Portugal the same way . Open your eyes and open your horizonte, I totally agree with you . Just got sun and holidays, festival , summit and good food but attention the prices . Good luck for all portuguese there!!

  8. Omg those fb grounds for real are a bunch of boomers who not only give horible advice /dont actually understand the legal requirement but actively insult anyone who does things differently. I came here on a student visa. I was told i was dumb for thinking id get residency or that i could afford it here … guess what ya it was anoying to do but it was worth it and i did get approved. I moved here with two dependents and a cat on a very tight budget 1500 to get us and our stuff here. Ya we had to take almost nothing but it was doable unlike the boomers who said id need at least 5k just to get here.
