White Priledge!😢 WTF! MY WHOLE LIFE WORKING IN MINING!! THANK YOU FOR FUCKALL!!😢😢😢😢
Fun fact: There are many ZANU PF government spies in ZA. I have many Zim friends and in 2010 one guy from Zim actually came through to SA and spent two nights at our commune and the guys were pleading with me to not mention our previous Konvos about Zim because the guy was a government agent. Fast forward to now where I have heard from Zimbos of multiple accounts of people disappearing (some that I knew) and some being coerced to return to Zim. I am willing to bet alot that this Ru-pre-tendo guy is a well-trained government mouthpiece and textbook agent.
I also find it very ironic that you would ask him about our political and government issues whereas he chose to leave his native Zim because of the atrocities his own government, that he religiously supports, committed!
Zanu PF lost the 2008 election by more than 60%. Through "Dunny", who is in New York now, I met his mom who worked for the ZEC.
She said when they were tallying up the votes, it soon became clear the MDC had won and they all were calling family members saying, and I quote, " I think we've done it this time".
Well you know how that story ends.
Last election the SADC said the election was NOT free and fair because of government interference yet we are are to take the ideas and insight to OUR own state issues and challenges🤔 .
Very interesting choice.
Anyway nice intverview with Herman and I found the Gayton interview very interesting and enjoyed it
I was in a computer science master's degree programme and lecturing while my supervisor was on academic sabbatical. I actually really like lecturing and blowing 3rd year students' minds with cool software development techniques.
Halfway through the semester, one of my white colleagues – a senior lecturer, pulled me aside and told me "he was was going to be straight with me". "Don't apply for this lecturing job with a PhD programme. We can see you're passionate and doing well, but that position must go to a BEE candidate".
"If you apply, it's going to be a lot of admin in the department for why you can't get the job – so please don't". There had been ANCYL protests on campus shortly prior and there was renewed pressure about the composition of lecturers in the science faculties.
I was shocked and angry. When I told one of my colleagues who I had got along with very well, a coloured guy, he just said "yeah agg tough shit". I knew then I must get out of the Academy, it's no longer a meritocracy. It's overtly political.
I'm now out, working in industry and doing much better than I ever could in academics. I also know that the lecturer position I would've been in stayed vacant for one year, and they then got lecturer from overseas. He was a black guy but had never been affected by apartheid. That's not even BEE, that's just racism pure and simple. The irony is that in e.g. software development, you can make so much more in industry compared to at universities that when BEE candidates get to be qualified for a teaching position, they go for industry instead – I don't blame them, many of them are supporting their parents etc. so they must go where there's money.
Anyway so now as the country's economy tanks and things are just getting worse, a part of me feels like say "yeah agg tough shit" and getting my family out of this BS. BEE just keeps us divided while enriching a tiny few.
What are the targets of BEE? For us to say its failed, we need to know its target.
If it was to grow a black middle class, its debatable.
If it was to make all black people rich it had no chance.
If it was to make the demographics of all aspects of the professional and business classes reflect the demographics of the country, how could it ever control that?🤔
I think there is always the same generic answer to these types of questions. South Africa, unlike Zimbabwe or other countries had one of the most brutal, longest oppression of man in modern history. And actually its partially ongoing (white control, Western control etc). Also, and this one is more contentious but we haven't had civilisations here as advanced as other areas..such as Zimbabwe also for example. Or is this too simplistic?
Thank you Penuel for pushing back on Rutendo's proANC propaganda. The objective of African revolutionary parties be it ANC, ZANU etc… was not to simply make a few African millionaires or give grants in addition to political independence but to improve the livelihood and living standards of the African nation as a whole. This includes the African collective having an equitable share of the means of production or the profits from them. Honestly, they have betrayed African people. If they were staying true to the revolution, we would have been living the best lives in Africa with little to no poverty because we have more than enough resources to sustain ourselves and generations to come and even to donate and sell to others.
the biggest problem is that BEEE is only serving an elite few…when politician are making millions, then the system isnt working.. like the mining sector only going to an elect few…, if you are looking for mining rights, then Patrice Motsepe signs of on if you get it or if you dont, not the government and he expects something in return for that tooo…
South africa is one of the richest countries in the world, but the corruption of our leaders, they dont care about the people nor the land, they are selling the people and the land short, modern day slavery.. like all the money that the governments is making and they cant maintain infrastructure, power water… but here is money for new cars..
wouldnt mind a man like Vusi Thembekwayo running for president

The reason it ends up in the same white hands, is simple, the black hands are incompetent. Be honest.
