I don't pay attention to any of the award shows. What I don't understand is, Angela Bassett didn't win an Oscar but then they decide to just give her one for no reason later on that year. What's up with that? If I were Angela I wouldn't have accepted it. She didn't win it. It was just given to her. Maybe it's me not understanding the whole thing.

In my opinion, I think all award shows should be stopped. There’s nothing more than rich adult pretenders, patting themselves on the back getting self congratulatory awards and these multimillion dollar swag bags and they expect us to listen to them and take their advice. The answer is no and I don’t care who wins movie of the year I don’t care who wins, best actor actress of the year. It’s just another award show that needs to go away. It’s a waste of time effort and money.

I'm writing a screen play about a Black transexual who is gay(Monday to Friday-Non Binary weekends) disabled and has extreme left wing views. I'm going to clinch my Oscar with the last scene where he goes water skiing and jumps over a shark.

We don’t need awards shows because it’s always the same actor winning them because they sold their soul to the devil to be able to win. And I am tired of them mocking God every time they get an award cause they’re not thanking God they r mocking God.

A bunch of people telling themselves how great they are. That's not Marxism, that's pure vanity. That's really what all these awards are; Vanity projects. Hollywood STARTED the awards, remember?

By the current Academy rules, the 2020 Best Picture winner, Parasite, would be ineligible. Despite being 100% "diverse" (non-white), it is not the correct shade of diverse. They want 🟤 not 🟡, and definitely lots of 🌈.

I've always known it would come to this. I remember their 2015 show and them going all in on the BS "Oscars so white" so called controversy, so this is no surprise. I hope they suffer harder for their open discrimination. They can't get off the hook for helping further divide our country.

Before 2000, only five black performers won acting Oscars; McDaniel, Poitier, Gossett, Denzel and Goldberg.
After 2000, in twenty-five years, five nominees a year means 100 nominees for each category, there have been four black best actor winners out of fifteen black nominees, four black supporting best actor winners out of fourteen nominees and eight black supporting actress. out of twenty black supporting actress nominees.
Before 2000, there was no black best actress winner, and after 2000, there has only been one "woman of color" being half-black Halle Berry, who is not happy she has been tokenized in this way, but this is white America at work.
Since 2000, there have been only nine black actresses to be nominated best actress.
Now this is black, African-American women, not Asian, Latino or any other racial group, since African-American is the targeted group. We want to pity them, but we don't want to acknowledge them. White instructions.
So in essence, it seems to be the way of holding on to our white princesses by keeping best actress a predominantly white group. Berry is half-white. Michelle Yeoh is Asian, but she isn't black. That's the way the whiteness works. Still no black actresses. No full-blooded, descended from the American slave, black blood in an actress.
See how long it takes before another "actress of color" even wins Best Actress.
Did we know Isabel Sanford was the first black actress to win an Emmy for a comedy? I think Phyllisha Ayers-Allen was a first black emmy winner as well when she won for Raisin In The Sun, best actress in a drama. That was like 2000.
As for James Baskett and Song of the South, I think they wanted to nominate him possibly as Best Actor and someone, potentially another nominee, objected. I think somebody did not want to be nominated against a black man like that, so they made it a special Oscar.
There was a reason he got a special Oscar and McDaniel did get an acting award. The women weren't as vocal IF they disapproved? Maybe they didn't care if they were nominated against her. I've heard Olivia DeHavilland wasn't happy to lose against her, or maybe Olivia wasn't happy to lose period. She was very young at that time, and she did go on to get two Best Actress awards for herself, so she was fine.
But the guys sang a different tune? Maybe a producer objected.
Whatever the case may be, but I don't think he started out as a special Oscar. Giving him a supporting Oscar may have been seen too much as an obvious shuffle for black actors to be supporting, so they wanted to give him best Actor, or maybe there was a commotion over giving him supporting. We don't want to be nominated against him. If we allow our noses to unwrinkle over the subject matter a bit, there may be a hint of something else occurring which I do think was the case here with Baskett, but that's neither here nor there now, they are all gone.
But just see how long it takes to have a second best actress winner who is black, and how probable is it she will be mixed race as well?

The Oscars truly died when James Franco and Anne Hathaway one-off co-hosting gig in 2009. That was bad. I could be wrong about that date by a year. But nonetheless, the Oscars has been for a long while a dinosaur after-thought members club.

IDK yo, all awards shows been stupid af since like 1996 when the award shows winners started getting investors based on number of studio awards given that year. Same went for all public award programs, in 1996 even the "safest vehicle awards" and such was rigged and money driven. The Real Game Awards is one of the few trying to make a diff in the current times.

All awards in entertainment industry, specially in the movie industry, are partly political. These days they even have become more political with the entertainment industry being prettymuch woke central. Even without DEI it is all political.
