  1. My friends and even strangers have said that I look like I am from Nigeria.

I do have strong features and strength to match. I took an ancestry test and it revealed that I am 53.4% Nigerian and my ancestors are Edo or Ijaw people. That is what brought me to this video. I love it. Thks!

  2. They had beautiful artistry, beadwork & customs. They practiced human sacrifice and had a huge trading economy, including being a slave trading giant in the ancient world. I have to wonder if this slave trade (dating back to 1200bc) is why the Kingdom of Benin isn’t typically discussed in history ?

  3. I wish we had games and anime and movies similar to like europes knights and japans samurai and chinas warriors but for african kingdoms like this one

  4. Interesting history Great job I must say, the history is truly ancient indeed and it’s quite understandable that you had to leave out some information in order to achieve a detailed summary. I’ll like to see more of the Great Benin Empire history here especially that Of Queen Idia and her son Oba Esigie. For clarity sakes too the Benin history has a lot of evidence to prove that the popular Oduduwa (originally Izoduwa) is a Benin prince, same goes for his son Oranmiyan (Originally Omoniyan).

  5. Please research the Yorubas, because they were sent by us Benin people. You don't know the facts
The real name of Benin is ubini but the Portuguese couldn't pronounce the u and simply called us Bini. An oba called oba Ewuare the 1 was saved by a man servant called Edo, when Edo died, oba Ewuare 1 planted a special tree called live tree on his grave and declared "henceforth this land shall be called Edo" when Bendel split into Delta and Benin kingdom, we called our land Edo, in further respect to that kind servant. With Benin-City as our capital, where the current oba is oba Ewuare the 2.
If u don't know our history, please ask Benin people not the internet. We know our culture as our elders tell it to us and we learn it in school. Don't use false information I beg of you, so people don't know false history

  6. Please make more videos on this amazing kingdom, I really enjoyed your in depth study and analysis of this video and I’d like to learn more about Benin kingdom

  7. This is a cool video.
I had to do some digging to find why he was depicted with one half of his body lighter then the other.
According to Wikipedia, his name means "The child has chosen to be controversial" and they named him that because of his unique skin. According to legend at least.

  8. NOPE! Benin Empire IS THE TRUTHS. Get your facts right! You can't say that before any Benin folks; as they are very full of unbiased provable truths/facts, healthy pride, and passion that some may call vexation – IBINU. All HAILS TO THE BENIN KINGDOM!
