  1. A chronic problem with African Nations is that they wildly undervalued their own resources. To them, I'm sure 7k for a lion seems like alot, but if they set the price at 50k people would still pay. Where else would they hunt a lion? Same issue with cobalt and many other resources.

  2. What a lie you cannot kill an elephant or a rhino.those days are gone if you try to kill those two animals no matter which department you work for be it CIA you can not leave Tanzania or Kenya with your life intact.

  3. I am so glad to see this video!!!!!
I was fortunate to go on Safari twice in 2016/2018 to study and leisure. My professor is from Tanzania so we had an amazing experience.

We were able to stay at Safari lodges described here, see the great migration, and see a cheetah hunt a rabbit.
That was the first half of the trip.

The second half was spent with local scientists doing ecology research.

The dichotomy between those visiting and those who work there is night and day. A Safari day was carefully planned and executed by guides/chefs/concierges to Make sure consumers had anything we wanted. They were nice guides and really knowledgeable. as a black woman on her first trip to Africa,I had to talk with them. As soon as we got back to the hunting lodge, drivers/guides are immediately back to work . I was uncomfortable asking someone that reminded me of my dad to do anything for me.
Luckily there’s a huge group of scientists that are committed to preserving the natural ecology and are very active. They care and want to see change and reduction in the number of tourists that visit,..

If I ever win the lottery, I will move Tz’s rainforest to open a tropical research center

  4. Except notice how pre colonization, none of these now endangered species were anywhere near extinction when the continent was managed by natives who did hunt and who developed their land. The threat to wildlife drastically increased when Europeans began sport and ego hunting African lands as a vacation. I don’t personably think any financial benefit to the few in the tourism industry is worth that. I think sport hunting by foreigners should be banned and come with JAIL time not a fee, and the land should be returned to native management. Also not all human society was dominated by capitalism. Pre European colonization, African land use was actually pretty balanced between needs of people and the land. Capitalism threw that into whack with its profit motif and requirement for never ending growth on a finite planet.

  5. This "terrible" profit you talk about is the power that drivers this thing. In our world everything must generate revenue. If commercial hunting is able to sustain population and generate profit it means that Animals will survive.

  6. A good friend is a multimilionaire, we usually travel together once a year with a few friends, he likes his fancy stuff, flies 1st class, better rooms/hotels etc. Each year, our experiences are about the same +- plus a few fancy amenities, yet if I spend, say, 2000 USD for 2 weeks with all tickets, accommodation, etc., he will easily spend 10.000 to 15.000 USD for the same period. It is always so absurd to me 😀

  7. Wow, the see-sawing of "THIS IS THE WORST THING EVER!!!… But… we have to. BUT IT'S SO HORRIBLE!!! But… it's really the only way in today's world. WHICH IS TERRIBLE!" It's exhausting. Didn't get past halfway through.

  8. Trophy hunting revenue analysis shoudl consider that those adult male trophies will die anyway, victims to old age and predators…

  9. From a gut level, high dollar trophy hunting seems wrong, but I have yet to see a convincing argument to why it is morally wrong compared to typical farmed-meat consumption.

  10. For countries that are constantly bled of their natural resources by Western society, it is absolute hypocrisy to blame them for allowing that same Western society to commit these atrocious acts on their lands. The root cause of the problem are the hunters, nobody else.

  11. Hear me out. The west is rich because of all the things they did in the past that now Africans want to do the same thing to get out of poverty the white man is stopping them. How’s that fair. F*ck animals I’d rather no kids be hungry or out of school.

  12. Why just blame these undeveloped countries?
Why not blame those countries that don't ban such trophies?
I am from India and we have banned all trophies and other endangered animals

  13. …how is the province that contains the resort poorer than the rest of the rest of Tanzania? I would expect they would basically have an economy built around it.

  14. My phone was listening to me as usual, was discussing the topic yesterday. I climbed Kilimanjaro and then went on a safari years ago. Very mixed feelings throughout. The whole thing is an amusement park for rich white people, with a strong taste of white master / black slave. When my peers got off the bus to pay for a dance from a Masai tribe, I stayed on the bus, it was just too… Awkward. I also went trekking in Nepal and to some extent the vibe was similar, but to a much lesser degree. The whole white master vibe isn't for me, it's not an exchange of cultures. If you go mountaineering in Peru for example, you will find a local economy supporting the sector manned by locals, who will speak eye to eye with you. That I like much more.

  15. I can't describe my hate for sport hunters ! Killing an elephant just to tick off some bucket list , and im not some tree hugging vegan ,I understand animals have to die for sustenance but the though of killing just for some trophy makes me sick !
