As a child of the soul am happy to see all these improvements. Thanks for the short video
Enjoyed your tour! I served in the Peace Corps. I taught at Bonthe Secondary School from August 1973 To June 1974. Thoroughly loved my time there. Wonderful people.
I have lived in Bonthe for a year and have attended Bonthe Secondary sch 1985/form 3. My uncle was the principal of Minimull Joe Swarry
Thanks for the great video! Could you please give the contact info of the guest house you stayed at ? The name, phone , or email address.

I am glad to see that there is new construction going on. The Secondary School, where I used to teach, looks good. At that time it was run by Irish Catholic priests. You call it Bonthe Island, but I think the real name is Sherbro Island. (Maybe it has changed.) In Bonthe, the people were Mende, but in the island villages I believe they were Sherbro. Sam Margai, brother of the Prime Minister, was a local businessman. Paterson Zochonis was a big trading company, and Standard Bank had a branch there. There were many Lebanese traders too. They used to ship out tons of piassava, natural brush fiber, from the port of Bonthe. Sherbro piassava was highly prized. But the port silted up, the ships couldn't come in, and the trade died off. Thank you for this Vlog.
Oh my God. Such memories.
When I was working for the Special Court I did stay in 2002 for 3 months in Bonthe. We had to grade up the Prison to International standards. It was a difficult time because there was no electricity and the food was limited. But it was still a nice place with great people and I made many friends. It is nice to see how things are developed. Thanks for the video it brings many memories back.
Oh wow! Thank you so much my dearest sister for showing us the beauty of our beloved homeland.
This has been a trip back in my past. So sad to see how things are falling apart. I lived at 13 Medina st up till 1978. Went to St Patrick's and B.S.S. I wish you showed along Medina st. Thank you so much.
St Patrick's, my primary school… Otto Street/Victoria Road and Orange Street
Wow you are doing a great job 👏 👍
I love your videos but you should try to explain about the history behind and the time when the white people came
I will visit Bonthe Island soon.
Great content! Well done 👏
what happened to the new city that was to be built on the island?
This is great
Wow looks like Bonthe might be a good place in the future to have a home. Streets looked good and clean and sounded like a quiet place.
Antoinette, a very historic place. Sorry you didn't have someone to explain more of its history. This place is set to rebound and become lively again.
Thanks for this interesting Tour and and to see all the Historic buildings is encouraging and lovely. You did a great job at exploring the traditional food and wine there that will make anybody want to come visit. Thanks again and Be Blessed!
