  1. I'm glad you pointed out the role of transit nations in all of this as they tend to get overlooked. The focus is usually on the source and consumer nations. I come from a transit country (Kenya) that lost 10% of its GDP to one of these rackets in the 1990s trading gold from the DRC in what we call the Goldenberg scandal, Kenya's largest corruption scandal to date that set us back years in economic development. We would never have thought actions in the DRC miles away on the other side of the continent would impact us directly as Kenyans.

  2. A few years ago I sat next to a man on a train who was on his way home having just landed at Heathrow Airport. He told me he'd just flown in from Dubai, having spent the prior 3 months in Ghana. He explained his friend had some gold mining contacts in Ghana and he'd been asked to pick up the gold and ensure it reached Dubai.

He was telling me how he'd gone to these small villages where everyone wanted to sell him gold. After a couple weeks of securing the gold, he escorted it under armed guard across the country and onto the train, where it was sent to Kenya and shipped to Dubai. He also flew to Dubai and told me how he and his friend met a doctor there, who's side business was laundering gold and he had a whole floor in his office building stacked with vast amounts of gold.

He was old, in his late 60s at least, and said he did it because he didn't have a lot of money and this job gave him more than enough to retire.

  3. The next time you're wondering about the wonderful place that is Switzerland … remember this video.
Its no different than Spain enjoying its own first world economy these days … after they raped central America for 200 years.
Then we hear about the junk society that is India joining in on gold theft … and we shouldnt be surprised.
Slum, scam, colonial $hiTbags, all of them.

  4. Music is to loud!! It’s been said more than once! Fire this horrible editor and go back to how it was before where we could hear u. Sucks that I’m forced at 5 min to shut it off. Good topic tho, I’d watch a reupload
