Good faith based movie. Was very relatable and a refreshing change from mindless entertainment. We need to train our boys to grow up and become men. Take personal responsibility.

This is a nice story what was written and filmed to present an idealistic worldview with christianity.
Fun fact: the film has just as much truth in it as the bible stories with god in them.

God is a concept, nothing more.

The concept existed long before writing was invented because the concept of god was the explanation for the great questions of mankind, why are we here, how does the world work, what happens after death, and the others.
In reality the concept does not explain any of these questions but it gives comfort for the people.

Most people follow a religion because they have desires which cannot be fulfilled by normal ways, good health, forgiveness, an afterlife with the loved ones, a god what looks after them and guides them, and they are willing to believe in a god without question for the hope that they can fulfill their desires.

The problem is that none of the religions have ever proved that god is more than a concept, because if any of the religions would have proved it, then we would not have hundreds of religions and denominations, because the whole planet would be converted to one religion what has the proof.

Religions have a function in every society, they create a standard for society and it creates stability and order, but it has nothing to do with any gods, it is a purely practical function.

Not to mention that most people practise a religion what was introduced in their region by a conquering army or colonization, so they practise a religion what their ancestors were forced to be converted into, because the other practical function of religions is that they are the tools of ideological warfare between civilizations and cultures.

Lets say you believe in a god, and you believe that god is more than a concept, since you cannot prove it, because nobody can and nobody did in the history of mankind, you have a belief.
That belief has a value only for you, the problem is that whatever experience convinced you that god is more than a concept, that experience is just your interpretation of events and information, what means that you cannot make a difference between a god and your imagination, because you cannot confirm it to be real.

And if that is the case, then the difference between you, a believer, and me, a non believer, is that i care more about my belifs being true than you, because you are willing to believe that god is more than a concept without confirmation.

By the way, the bible is also just the interpretation of events and characters and religious concepts by late bronze age people, just as any other supernatural or religious stories.

Mankind has patterns.
We keep using the "divide and rule" concept because it works and we keep using the concept of god, because it also works, but god does not have to be more than a concept to inspire people and that is the catch in it.
