  1. EVERY country, nation, tribe and nationality has stolen land from each other throughout HISTORY. Even KAMEHAMEHA stole land and islands from his fellow Hawaiians and was named "THE CONQUEROR OF THE ISLANDS" for SUBJUGATING fellow Hawaiians under his dictatorship. So who is NOT innocent? Civil wars and infighting has characterized ALL peoples.

  2. It's funny how the title and storytelling present this as some unmoral disaster echoing down through time, when in reality Hawaii is living its best life because of it.
Somebody needs to look at Marshalls, the Solomons, Fiji, etc to see how well Pacific island groups govern on their own.

  3. So congress was going to do the right thing and re-establish native domain, and then war broke out. At that point, Hawaii was no longer sovereign even if the U.S. had followed through with their intention to re-establish native domain because other Nations would have swooped in and taken control.

  4. No treaty of annexation, no legal plebiscite in 1959, no such thing as the State of Hawaii. Hawaii is under illegal U.S. military occupation and Hawaiians are still fighting for freedom till today.

  5. I have to write an article as a school project and I chose the annexation of Hawaii. I had never heard the story what so ever and I am so glad that I now know. This is so sad and tragic. I rlly enjoyed this video and learned so much from it, thank u!!

  6. To be clear:

    1. The Hawaiian Kingdom continues to exist as an independent and sovereign country up to the present day (which is currently being illegally occupied by the U.S. ).
[There is no Treaty which makes the Hawaiian Kingdom into a State of the U.S.A.]

    2. January 17th, 1893 marked the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom Government (not the Hawaiian Kingdom).

    3. See the NEA (National Education Association) report on the 130 year U.S. illegal occupation of the Hawaiian Kingdom (1893-2023).

    4. See the NLG (National Lawyers Guild) report on the 130 year U.S. illegal occupation of the Hawaiian Kingdom (1893-2023).

    5. See the ICC (International Criminal Court) report on the 130 year U.S. illegal occupation of the Hawaiian Kingdom (1893-2023).
[History and Law are inextricably intertwined]

  7. i worked in hawaii for abit, became good friends with some locals who had issues with mainlanders coming to the islands, we had good long talks and end the end i felt so bad for the hawaiian people, their entire culture is being wiped out or turned into some sort of circus for mainlanders and foreigners, hawaiins are losing there land and being outpriced of their homes by rich mainland americans, i cried on my way back to the mainland because i met several native hawaiians leaving hawaii for the phillipines because they no longer could affort to live on their own islands

  8. Has anyone ever thought that maybe, just maybe, that sometimes the English words we use to describe something inform our minds of a political lie told by the wishful victors? Affirm a lie, an act of fraud, as if it were true in our own minds? Maybe, just maybe, this word, "overthrow" is not quite sufficient to characterize the truth then as it is now. What do you think? Here's what I think: According to my plumber, my throne still works well although sometimes, I do require a plunger. Do you have a throne in your throne room? I hope you do. Every noble house should have one, (and a plunger just in case). An outhouse will do as well. Especially accessible for all during a long recess break. If you know the truth then you know I'm referring to The House of Nobles, currently in recess. I think the word "overthrow" used in this case is like… SQUIRREL!

  9. Years after they took Guam & all of Micronesia. To this day don't matter how independent any island in the north Pacific or in the North Micronesian region is the US still controls them. Wake up!

  10. holy cow, about 40 years before Japan counter attacked pearl harbor, I believe Japans Govt knew more than I know now…I never felt sorry for any of those men and women who conspired and set up a military base of an illegal piece of land just to imperialize the world thru military prowess and campaign
