Dr. David Reich is a geneticist at Harvard. Check out his 2010 Nature paper, "Reconstructing Indian Population History," to learn about the research he's discussing here in depth.
I learned a lot from my conversation with him, where we explored this topic and many others in greater depth. I highly recommend watching the full episode, which you can find linked above the title or on my channel!
Both his points are utter nonsense: 1.Both north and south has people of every caste, caste system being the reason for gradient doesn't make sense. 2.There is no mention of caste in vedas, it was varnas which is based on your work and actions and varnas are changeable. He is using some random data points to prove his baised hypothesis
Not now.. indians are micing with every nation.. plus there are such mixes… Portuguese (Goa, Diu, Daman) some french in Ponachery and in the west coast Persia which is now Iran 🇮🇷
I knew a dude from India who was more black than the blackest African. Sunlight that refracted from his skin was actually blue instead of orangy that you get with normal black people. Like with Asian peoples hair when you sometimes get that blue shine effect.
dr.neerajrai comment on it sir. id rather listen to our indian scientist on our genes than white guy. (given how much false history white people have written about india the most popular one being aryan invasion theory) i got trust issues.
Fascinating history. My great grandparents left India four generations ago. They left before partition and were a mixture of Hindu and Muslim. The caste system was never discussed in my home and my father was definitely against it. He said India choked its civilization by placing people in box from which they could not escape!
North to south gradient is different from caste based gradient. Caste system existed within each of the provinces of India separately. Whereas people from different provinces were also isolated from each other as each was a distinct culture with its own unique language ruled under their own kingdoms. India that exists today is a collection of states that historically had individual identities. They all had the basic Indian universal traits that connected them to be collectively recognized as Indians mainly as a common religion (Hindu/Jain). So in a way India is in essence 'The United states of India'.
Kya bkwas hai! The opposite pole r North Indians n South Indians. So how caste came into this? North Indian bramhins r more close genetically to North Indian SC and same for South India.
Patel itself is not a cast . In gujerath 2 completely different community uses it . Also many people use it non-chalantly and has no definite state . In Karnataka Vokkaligas and Lingayat use it as Patel and Patil while in Maharashtra few Maratha cast use it as Patel or Patil. This was an administrative title since Western india was ruled by kannada SI dynasty of chalukya and rashtrakutas for 800 yrs this administrative title became part of the community

The reason he said ‘Patels’ don’t follow that pattern is by and large they are Sikh.
Sikhs are not racist the way Hindu’s or even sometimes Muslims can be.
That’s why they’ve mixed more thoroughly.
Patels are gay
