Old post but: My husband served on the CP140 Aurora aircraft during this operation. He wasn't the one who found Gaddafi, one of the guys on another crew did.

seems to me that ghadafi had critical misunderstandings about what was happening in the world. Israel for example was a response to the same terrible italy and germany actions he felt were harming his country. He let religious zealotry and hatred blind him to what was actually happening and responded in almost the same manner of italy and germany that was also defeated for horrific atrocities
