The best of Berla Mundi in #TheEngineRoom on #Springboard your #VirtualUniversity with Albert Ocran

This is as close as you can get to the 15 Chapters of Berla Mundi’s first book and I really encourage her to write it. Berla plays down her achievements and talks about her childhood, her failed beauty contest and her fears in a way that is so compelling and inspiring.

l stumbled on the Springboard Virtual University a few months back when l was looking for answers to certain challenging nagging questions and l must admit, although l have not watched every episode, l love the ones l have watched so far. Thanks Rev. for putting this show together for your esteemed viewers.

On the issue of career guidance, honestly, l share the view that in our setting there is nowhere to go when people are confronted with career decisions. For this reason, l believe Ghanaian educators, caregivers and parents alike can contribute their quota in this regard, if emphasis can be placed on individual personality traits and temperaments at a tender age (Kindergarten, primary school through to senior high). This will help unearth talents, skills and giftings in time and with the right guidance appropriate career paths can be identified early without children having to beat about the bush.

Again, most individuals will not end up in careers for the wrong reasons: family pressure, friends, monetary gains etc if education is structured in a way that anchors personality traits and temperaments.

From Berla's narration, she exhibited certain traits as a child when she used to cane and communicate with the ranks of their stairway. Through careful observation and knowledge in this field, she could have been helped at that tender age and probably she would have dived into her career earlier than she did.

And yes, when one's career path is determined early on, the kind of education they receive will all make sense. For the lack of knowledge, some " real gems" pursue careers they are not cut out for and remain unfulfilled for life. Others fortunate to make a quick U-turn to pursue careers of their choosing after so many wasted years in other fields.

lf we want to see children become what God has destined them to be, observation and guidance throughout the developmental stages of the lives of children is going to be one of the keys that parents and educators have to use to unlock potentials.

Bless up mommy
