The BEST Authentic Lebanese Vegan Loubieh Bzeit | Green Beans in Olive Oil & Tomato Sauce
Ingredients:
– 1/2 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
– 3 medium yellow onions
– 2.25 lb (36 oz) frozen (or fresh) green beans
– 8 medium Tomatoes on the Vine
– 2 heaping tbsp (85grams or 3 oz) tomato paste
– 1 1/2 tsp salt
– 1 1/2 tsp paprika
– 3 cups boiled water
Simmer for about 1 hour.

You need to finely chop 2 or 3 pieces of garlic and add a handful of dried mint before you cook the beans and tomatoes.

I am Syrian. My grandmother (Sito) added chopped garlic with the onions and also used dry mint and black pepper to further enhance the flavor. We ate it with Syrian rice.

This dish requires the very flat Italian cut green beans which is totally different than the round French cut green beans used here.
