  1. What the power sector is doing is simply robbing Peter to Pay Paul, I will talk as a customer on Band A.
I have prepaid meter and when I recharge I pray and hope the electricity doesn’t finish too quickly. The don’t use Iron, hot plates, electric cooker, water heater or any appliances that consumes electricity. I sold my normal AC to buy an inverter AC and when the room is cool I switch the AC on.
The minister mentioned in another interview that there’s a gap of about 60% consumers without prepaid meters.
These are people with Hot plates, electric cookers, water heater, iron and electric appliances that consumes more electricity. At the end of the month they’re giving an estimated bill of let’s say N50,000 they can decide to pay N5,000 and carry forward the remaining balance.
They use electricity anyhow they like because they know that whether they use it well or not they will still be giving the same bill and they can decide to pay a token.
I don’t have a choice, why can’t the government provide prepaid meters for everyone and let everyone pay for what they will use, why should I be made to suffer for the inefficiency of the power sector.
The band system has nothing to do with Rich and poor because the area I live in is far from a rich peoples area.
The effect of the fuel subsidy is heating some of us, the inflation rate is high and I’m still among the just 15% Band A users again, with no increment in salary, do you want to suffocate me?

  2. Ever since the announcement of the increase the power has become more epileptic. The capacity of the infrastructure cannot hold the load the DISCOs are subjecting it to just to keep up with their promise.

  3. Why can’t Seun mention this name of the Nigerian professional with International repute in the power Supply to the Minister??? He should have mentioned the name

  4. You asked people to off their freezer, but yours is always ON you guys should be leading by example… the freezer being ON does not stop constant electricity supply.. this is just the kind of statement you get when people who are not qualified gets appointed as ministers..

  5. Mr Seun, you need to beam a searchlight on the billing system in the discussion of electricity. There's a need for certainty of what is used and what is paid for. Good for consumers and investors. The estimated billing system should be abolished. Reform won't be successful without completely phasing out estimated billing.

  6. Paying this huge amount of subsidy for electricity without any light for all Nigerians is a reflection of corruption in the power sector. This guy doesn't know what he's saying and the ministry should go ahead to fight those cabals benefitting from this sector.

  7. It would have been better if Tinubu had come after a government that concentrates on production and reducing corruption. Tinubu is a tax collector and that's exactly what he did in Lagos and he is doing it now by strangulating and extorting Nigerians ,not minding production and exportation….. We are in real trouble.

  8. In truth, I really didn't understand this man's long grammar. You can't provide electricity to the households, yet, you want to overcharge at the little power you could produce. It's not our fault that you guys couldn't provide power..

  9. This minister has no capacity and also he ha no knowledge of what to do , for almost 1 year now what cab he say he has done ?? Increase electricity tariff foolish fool

  10. Seun, thanks for the gallant investigative journalism on the Minister of Power supply.

Unfortunately,we have heard these promises over and over from the previous administration that did little or nothing to revamp the power sector.

  11. According to the Hon Minister..Nigeria cannot afford to subsidize electricity for the citizenry to the tune of N3trn but can afford to build a road (Lagos – Calabar coastal road) at the cost of N15trn..

  12. Thanks Mr. Minister for your humility by apologizing to the affected people by your speech. For those enjoying relatively stable electricity, please pay and stop this childish argument. Abroad, utility companies review rates upward annually. You may reject but you will not have service.

  13. When a politician comes to your radio or TV show and you ask them a question and the first thing they say is “thank you very much”. You know they About to Lie 🤥🫣

  14. This government is heartless how can you increase fuel, cooking gas and electricity almost the same time . They have no conscious. Nigerian continue to suffer. 🤡

  15. I totallý disagree with you on the fact that government is subsidising power. However, the increase in tariff is not the solution to raise liquidity for the gencos. All you needed to do is automate payment in the power sector even if they pay for only what they use. There is alot of leakages in d system that needs to be blocked. Introduce technology webapp system and data management to mop up the small funds from Nigerians .. u guys are simply senseless..

  16. From every indication this govt has failed virtually in everything. Looking at the Minister of power stalling in every question thrown at him shows there's no hope of steady power in this administration. This is indeed a renewed hopeless. I weep for my beloved country!!

  17. Minister of power charge your power bank and make sure you switch off your fridge and deep freezer and don’t use your air condition system to sleep 🤣

  18. This Minister has chosen same model that Fashola used many years ago but failed woefully. It is very bad, The minister should test his power solution on a simulator and see how it fails.
