I had picked Tola for silver about 6 months ago. Then I was shocked to see that he was not selected. Bekele was a sentimental choice instead. Then he got on in place of Lemma, who was one of the favorites to win, as Lemma got injured I believe. Again I picked him for the silver and Kipchoge for the gold. Kipchoge faded early with back pain and the coast was clear for Tola. He has been my second favorite male runner for the past two years. I especially like his cool demeanor. And now he is the favorite for 2028 as well. By the way, Ethiopians at least should be knowing this. Remember that in 1960 Rome Olympics, Abebe Bikila was not chosen in the three on Ethiopia's team. He was fourth, then he got in due to an injury, and well we know the rest! How history repeats itself! Amazing! And may Tola win two in a row like Bikila.
