Harmattan? It's kikaa. Kente? This is bingba or fugu (or batakari to southerners). So much nicer than Accra and miles better than grid-locked Kumasi.
Wow beautiful city I love Ghana and I love you guys good job god bless you all👏👏👏👏
In Tamale, try the Crest Restaurant (Giddipass). It's a rooftop restaurant with good cheap local food and some Chinese.
Next time you go, go a little further north near the Burkina Faso-Ghana border and visit the Paga Crocodile Pond. This is a just a tourist rip-off attraction but at least you get the chance to feed a live chicken to a crocodile and get to pull a live (but tame) croc by the tail. Make sure you get to Mole but on the way take in the mosque at nearby Larabanga, reputedly the oldest mosque in Ghana (and maybe West Africa) and get your pictures taken by the "magic rock" along the way. Look up the "magic rock" on the Internet for the full story. Lots of great elephants at Mole (didn't see any other wildlife).
One place of entertainment in Tamale used to be the Old Timers' Club on Saturday night. Point 7 in your video used to be a good place for kebabs on a weekend. Dot's Inn, located on the outskirts of Tamale, was good to get deep-fried guinea fowl pieces and yam chips at really good prices, washed down by cold Star beer (not that lousy Club).
The Harmattan is a season in West Africa that occurs between the end of November and the middle of March. It is characterized by the dry and dusty northeasterly trade wind, of the same name, which blows from the Sahara over West Africa into the Gulf of Guinea. You fold may not know it but the harmattan wind occurs all over West Africa, including northern Nigeria, bringing in red dust from the Sahara.
Kente is woven on a horizontal strip loom, which produces a narrow band of cloth about four inches wide. Several of these strips are carefully arranged and hand-sewn together to create a cloth of the desired size. If you want a photo of real kente weavers, I can provide you with one.
The wind is the HAR-MAT-TAN, easy enough to pronounce if you're not stupid and if you can read syllables. And the weaving done in Tamale is not kente. Remember, boys and girls, not all weaving done in Ghana is kente.
I want to visit Tamale the next year. I want to build it and buy a home. What is the best way to proceed? I plan to retire in about 3 years.
You will love Kumasi (the garden city)
In Ghana Christians and Muslims go to school together. We know each other very well and there is peace at every corner in the country .
Thanks so much, I loved this video! I am traveling to Tamale next month, and the things you shared were very informative and excited me!
Are there any opportunities to study in Tamale? What about jobs in Ghana?
Hello I live in the US and my boyfriend is from Tamale in Ghana and we have been together 2 years and I would really love to go there and visit him but he lives in a village where there very poor and I try to help him all the time. Right now he has some health issues I'm try to also help him. He also has a little brother he tries to help him also. How hard is it to go visit him? I really feel the need to help him and I don't know what to do?
I like your intro
But Tamale is full of Dagombas that's our language Dagbani so if your are going to welcome people if you are in Tamale we saying it AMARAABA Not Akooba thank you
Thank you guys for sharing your trip to Tamale. I really love the dancing and the artwork and the jury as well great t-shirt as well man. Thank you for sharing
Harmattan season is right after rain season so the wild wind actually helps dries crops after harvest blowing from Sahara dusty
I know am a year late but it's harmattan. That comes right after the raining season, then after comes the actual dry season. Yes there r more Muslims here and sometimes they can be up in your dressing business. Depending on where u live n where u r going, they turn to leave u alone.
Over here Christians sometimes buy sugar or other stuff for Muslims when it's fasting periods. The mud Houses use to plastered with cow dung and the gender roles is mostly due to tradition. Unlike the akans, we r a patrilineal society.
Oh and things are way more slow when u go to the upper East, just that it's predominantly Christian. Few sites in the upper east would be the crocodile pond, slave camp, Tongo hills n shrines ( don't worry we don't kidnap 😉 ). How straw baskets, hats, smoke and shea butter is made. Settlement in the upper east is different and it's a few degrees hotter there too.
Great video. Thank you. I’m in Accra enjoying Ramadan and the brothers at the Mosque tells me that Tamale is the place to be. But you guys just told how affordable it is. Thank you so much

Not a topic that as any relation to me or my life–but I find it a pleasure to hear real (intelligent) commentary about ANYTHING amongst the wilderness of YT babble.
I would love to watch the ladies who make the kente cloth. I would like to find a pattern and get the story behind it.
