Suspected food poisoning cases spark protest in Bronkhorstspruit

Bronkhorstspruit residents are up in arms against spaza shops owned by foreign nationals and are demanding them to take off the shelves food items suspected to be the cause of the alleged poisoning cases. About 25 pupils were taken to different hospitals after they fell ill today. Nqobile Madlala has more.

  1. Sa too nice to soft with these people they dont put any energy she only talking about snacks tomm it will be something else
Abahambe man stop interviewing u too nice listening to lies of this BS illegal bullshitters

  2. Our police only search for alcohol in road blocks, that's the only thing they know. All this food that is sold in spaza shops is transported on the road but police don't know, how funny!

  3. Why they r not take that food to the lab for checking what is really happened,, poisoning is in the food or is plan for looted the shop,or is plan for kick out the foreigners from South Africa???

  4. The 2 shop owners talked a whole lot of nonsense. They seem to think that the items will never expire if the expiration date is removed or if there is no expiration date printed on the items.

  5. These so called community leaders are misleading the community
They're still protecting these foreign nationals…Why not close and chase these people out of the community for good?
What happened tomorrow if their coke is killing people,They're going to take all coke and leave the shop open?

  6. There is the problem of language with the shop owners. They want to express themselves but they cannot articulate properly in English. My understanding is that they also do not know which snacks cause illness in children.

  7. South Africans you are very funny people. You allow them into your townships, you allow community members to rent them garages, you let them roam free and disrespect the laws of the country, all of a sudden you want them out? Why did you let them in?

  8. So if people start dying from eating expired sour milk bought from these shops a new revolt will resume to remove those expired sour milk. Why don't they just close down theses shops because its obvious that almost all items are sold expired!!!!

  9. Just close these shops, there may be more foods not safe including tin stuff, can we just close these shops, let's support our own shops, how did we do it in the past before homeaffairs sold us out, surely we had our own local citizens who owned tuck shops

  10. My fear is that these shops can stamp expiry dates for eg in 2025, that still doesn’t make the product safe.sampling should also be done on some of the products by the health department. So happy to see the community standing together to protect our little gifts.
