  1. because them books only teach black people to be victims . they dont teach the true story. like the fact that africans sold their fellow men and woman to white ppl like a mcdonalds drive through. them book will only tell black kids that whitey is the devil.

  2. Naw, what it means is that the children in these Red states are going to be dumbed down and challenged when they reach college age. And the Secretary of Education needs to withhold funding for every incident like this and for every book that is banned.

  3. Unbelievable and disgusting! What the heck is going on in the country? I have to disagree on one thing with Mr. Dunn as much as I hate to. I really like the man. Sadly, the country was based on racism and it's still experiencing the trickle down affect. That fact seems to be disappearing in education as well. It happened when Columbus came and when the "Puritans" came and killed and took the Indigenous as slaves.

  4. I was Republican my whole life, for over 4 decades. Then Trump gave a few racist demonstrations and brazen evil became the new song for all of them.

  5. As a sports fan I thought of a great way to teach these racist Florida lawmakers a lesson. Black athletes need to refuse to play for any Florida school. I guarantee the money lost through these universities would force people to wake up to what's going on in Florida and other red States in this country. Also other white people like me who are against this racist takeover of our schools need to stand up against it

  6. Every parent in the State should sue the State for the emotional harm and damage they are inflicting on children. On all children and especially black children. Why would any parent want to raise children in such a State? Why would anyone want to support such a State by vacationing there?

  7. Yes, I see the racism in this issue and it is wrong, but I don’t understand why we are still surprised. Folks teach your children at home about your history not his story, because that’s what they’ll be learning at best.

  8. What they did sounds prudent to me. Gotta keep the students safe. What's the black book about? How to carjack someone? How to protest? How to light police cars on fire? How to complain that all the problems you created are the fault of everyone else? How to speak racial ebonics?

  9. This Ron Distantis war on woke damaged a lot of things and is a big knife to black culture, remember the white man that went and killed black people because of it, all because of GOP politics

  10. Oh god…. Obviously stupid woke teachers trolling….. all we care about here in FL is keeping the sexualization type literature out of the reach of children…. If you all trying to make this story out like FL got it wrong…. Then stay out of our great state…. This has nothing to do with black people…. So stupid

  11. This isn't on the teachers. It's on the Board of Education and the lobbyists that give money to schools under "certain conditions." As a former teacher (not in FL), I wanted to use different texts, but I wasn't allowed to. It was a clear no, no permission slip or meeting. Just in an email to stick to the curriculum given to me, even if that means only reading dead white male authors to a classroom of Black and Brown children. I wanted to use texts that would resnote with my students so they can learn the literary skills and terminology in the Common Core Standards. Any diversion from the curriculum would put my job in jeopardy. We have to remember who is in charge and who gets the big paychecks because it ain't teachers.

  12. You need permission to learn about the contributions that Blacks made to this country, but no permission is needed to learn about the invasion of this country by White men and the slave holders. Interesting.

  13. While I agree that all of American history should be taught in every state at every grade level, most American students cannot read English. They cannot write. It cannot read they cannot spell most of them cannot even do simple mathematics because the parents want them excused from anything that might be hard. That’s why many Americans, who actually graduate from high school have a little more than a fourth grade education at best. Ron DeSantis is an idiot. He lost his raise to be a good Republican nominee to be present in a 2024 election so now he wants to backpedal on some of these ridiculous laws and he made for public education. In many states public tax monies being channeled into private school systems.

  14. Simply it is the censorship of the Black and Brown communities' histories and contributions to an America that they want to white-wash and say things like we only have one national anthem, when all people of this country weren't always and sometimes still treated and viewed through one lens of being an American.

  15. U. S. studies is African American history. So shame on this unamerican Mi@mi school system and their backward instructors. The good governor denounced Miami school system and their instructors doing.
