Stop raping us. End the rape culture in Kenya now – Tuko Talks | Tuko TV
“She was raped because her dress was too short,
Why was she drinking? She was throwing herself at men. That was her boyfriend, how could he rape her? There is no way a man can be raped by a woman? You should feel good when a woman throws herself at you, University students should be taught manners, she died in the line of duty”
Those are some…

This is hinting me so hard coz 2weeks ago I have been battling with depression coz I invited a formal friend of mine .that we once together in the same company ..it was 3years since we met again since I had stopped working in that company so I invited him to my house and we went to have someone drinks as we chat up so I took my two cans of tusker cider and I said I'm good to go time was not on our side so we went to my house and this fake friend of mine insisted to me to have the last glass alcohol and I went to the loo and when I came back 😢😢 this guy had put drugs in my drink and I didn't know so I drank without knowing …the next thing I remember I found myself bleeding and feeling paining in my private parts and I wouldn't move ..I had not had sex before but that how this guy raped me ..I'm still in a dilemma and self hatred and accepting what happened is really driving me to think of suicide .!!I'm still not sure if this guy used even protection or not I hate that day .
its so sad a country with lots of women reps.. like a women representatives yet our gals and women have no pads, our gals and women are sexually harassed now and then everyday.!!
😮 what a big shame that a country like Kenya has no justice for rape victims. As a nation we need to speak up.
One of the most informative sessions I have listened to in a while. You two are doing a good job. It's about time we wake up as a nation.
Rixpoet , Loving what you do. Voice for the shy or voiceless.

GREAT TALK, LORD HELP US
Thank you Lynn for this great conversation.
Gender roles and responsibilities that we being socialized from a young age needs to change, when our mothers are teaching their girls to be good ,wives ,mothers and society members in the future, are our young boys and men being prepared to be upright good members of the society or good husbands and such?
Look at our African-Kenyan saying "proverbs" eg 'Mwanamke ni tabia " then what about the men, the society from young age accepts that men do not need to be of good morals ,that its tolerated its acceptable but for women "mwanamke ni tabia" . for all of us mothers raising young sons lets us go an extra mile and bring up men who will be responsible morally upright men.
Our mysogynistic and patriachal society has enabled rape culture. Our men are raised to feel like they are untouchable and superior humans. That is why in South Africa, i think it is in soweto where women created their own justice system. They find a man that has raped or sexually assulted a woman, they kill them. And all these men and women blaming victims, please explain how a baby can be viewed as sexual object? Rapists are egotistical people (whether man or woman). Rapists like to feel powerfull by subduing their victim. Rapists are psychopaths with no empathy or remorse. The culture of victim blaming and suffering in silence is rampant in Africa. Rape may have been highlighted and exposed in Kenya and South Africa, however, it is all over Africa. Many other countries may be good at hiding it and covering up. I'm Ugandan and i will tell you, do not be fooled by the fact that we have Ssengas and openly get taught about sex. That sex education is mostly directly to females. I've not seen men being taught about sex. Many women, girls and boys stay quiet because they are scared of being blamed. Many live with their abusers who turn out to be their close uncles and aunts or even siblings who are highly regarded in the family. So even if they speak up, the are silenced and dismissed.
I'm a victim of rape at 19,,
I'm 23 now but I cant collect myself together,, I feel terribly bad everyday,, I dont know when I will come out of this 😥😥
Even mad women and men are also raped. It has nothing to do with dressing.
Hi Tuko and all the fans including me. The discussion was good but not worth it reason being as far as have watched different discussions on the based issues of rape, pay gag etc. All these those who talk about it only keep pointing the problems and we put less focus on what we should do, how to get permanent solution on this issues driven by cultural/masculinity. For example, "A man knows he should provide and a woman knows a man should provide sometimes incase a man looses a job, a woman still working and still a man has to provide! thats is a culture. when pressure is put on a joblessman to provide by a woman who is still working then something bad happens, then to avoid this Men/women should be entitled to be providers of the family not men are the providers. Women be like my money is my money a mans money is our money)
Am not shaming avictim but like our male on the panel, he was raped by the house help and still kept talking about male perpetrators instead of discusing how this should be avoided and what parents should do and what children should do incase they get lured and raped by a house help.
Yes I know they pointed out what should be done in some areas but much energy should be put on solving problems.
The justice systems completely fails rape victims
Jesus! The justice system there does not favour rape victims. So sad…
I love your channel! Always very interesting and creating consciousness. Very good!
Stop leaving your children with relatives! Stop leaving your children with domestic workers! Stop telling your children not to speak against adults. Stop allowing house help to wash your children. Stop letting your kids share beds with relatives. 1:3 girls and 1:4 boys will get molested/raped in their lifetime. Also churches are not the answer!! Get your kids to professional counselors when they get abused
I am Polish, never even been to Kenya and I don't know much about Kenyan culture or Kenyan problems. I am sharing it in my facebook, as I think this talk is relevant for all the nations, all the cultures, all the people in the world. Everyone should listen to that. Thank you guys.
Something needs to be done ASAP
I was scrolling down to see these comments, and I want to show you what kind of society this is. A 99.99 percent of these comments are from women and maybe a 1 percent from men. what does that show. Men where are you?
that is lured by my dress my choice.. Kenyan ladies dressing is wanting
Njeri wa Mígwi … God will bless you sana yaani!¡¡😭😭😍😘😘😘
I cry 😢 a lot when I watched this interview
I just pray for Kenyan 😢😢😢😢😢
I'm the discussion has begun, we should not accept gender based violence or victim blaming and shaming. That's why most of them are afraid to come out and talk about it. That applies to sexual violence against boy who most of the time are too ashamed to talk about it or are silenced by society.
Very true, there's always that fear. Especially when you're walking on the road and the person behind you is a guy…it creeps me out infact sometimes I wait for them to pass so that I can walk behind them.
Very informative
Otieno Onyango is a liar at 20 how? Now UWONGO he enjoyed
Ugandans also have Kojjas (uncles) who teach men how to handle themselves in the bed room. So, sengas(Aunties) for women and Kojjas for the men.
But we should teach our girls to pay 50/50 it brings respect don't go to first dates empty pockets, and men should understand that NO is NO RAPPING A GIRL IS DEGRADING HER AND ITS WRONG
Lyne we should teach this boys how to treat this women alot of girls are being rapped and they are ashamed to speak, please men stop rapping this women
Women are human beings period. Do to others what you would like done to you. Thanks Tuko for speaking up about this.
Oh my what a wise man, this conversations should definitely be led by men. Good on you mate!
Lodging Sio Za kudinyana ni kurelax ..ukona na mashetani madam
I belong to a certain group on App it's supposed to be a safe space for the youths and I cannot tell you how absolutely disheartened by what men say when it comes to women. And the absolute hate and contempt I notice men feel towards women. We are called Daughters of Jezebel and the community still expects us to get married to these same men.
Our ancestors walked nearly naked yet rape was not so rampant
i feel inspired to make a difference, i donno how but , i hope to find out how.
This time LYNN NO 💔💔😓I pray we all just come into one agreement this time we dont let these things move without coming into a conclusion as a country
😭😭it scary akiii
Hao women reps wanafanya kazi gani kama sio kusaidia na kudeal na hii issue surely. This breaks my heart
Men being raped by women and women being raped by other women almost never gets reported.
