At least 95 have been confirmed dead and dozens are missing after huge rains swept the eastern province of Valencia in Spain and beyond.
Rescue efforts are continuing as the country endures its worst flooding disaster in decades, with the Spanish government saying the death toll is feared to climb.

The atmosphere decided to simply throw a giant lake onto Valencia. That takes a lot of power, a lot of energy. A lot of heat. The human race has decided to witness a mass extinction event. This will be yet another severe test for the biosphere, though perhaps not as severe as the End-Cretaceous asteroid, or the End-Permian conversion of Siberia into a colossal lava field, or the Late Phanerozoic Snowball Earth. But severe enough to at least drastically modify genus Homo, if not exterminate it.

The fresh start. Like so many people, today Spaniards are faced with destruction. It can come from natural disasters, or from human conflicts. But looking at the people in the Valencia region, we can believe in reconstruction. They came together, they are removing the rubble, collecting the bodies, cleaning up and determined to make the place more beautiful again.
Oh, this is indeed sad! Fortitude for all families suffering human loss.
