A very touching documentary.
0:05 wrong map of Sudan, Halayeb & Shalateen is missing. In some current maps they don't put it and East Sudanese Beja tribes (🇪🇷🇸🇩) are the only natives who still live there, there's nothing related to egypt territories, they added it 10 years ago
😊😊❤❤🎉🎉
I heard about him when i was young but i guess museven have hand in his death 😊
All South Sudanese are brothers and sisters, but unfortunately many Dinkas don't see it like this
Thank you very much. I went to school with and had friends in school from South Sudan in 1968-1971 in Lubiri School, Kampala. I still remember Okudra, Taban, and others others. Some subsequently moved to Bradford in In UK. Your family story, and the story of your country makes me want to help. I wrote to the Embassy in London but never got a reply. I would like to open a professional accountancy office in Juba and create employment – let me know- Knowsley Business Services Limited, Uk.
Promise of liberty and independence is not the reality of liberty and Independence. Wise word
I love my south Sudanese neighbor may God bless them.
Love from Bangladesh
Thank you, you are welcome Garang family
Beautifully filmed. An important film as well. Thank you for your courage and your faith.
Love from your neighbor, Uganda.
Most of these endless civil, religious, and political wars are intentionally funded by the same people who benefit from them financially and politically both local and global allies. It has become a norm for countries to be frequently under some sort of instability. May peace thrive in our nations.
Thank for me whoever the sound guys were. 😊
What a captivating and educative piece. I was glued from the start and have been educated. Thank you.
Wish you all the best my South Sudanese brothers and sisters, our continent is such a sad story.
❤❤
The country now has develope
BBC should learn from DW on how to do documentaries especially about topical issues in Africa. It has to be done by an African without an agenda to being down or disparage but to uplift and provide hope. This is beautifully done.
Such a beautifully done documentary. It showcases not only the determination of a budding young nation but also foot step progression where a woman has now been elected a Vice president. Woman are naturers by nature and eventually I believe with her input, if given room and continued empowerment, change will definable come and South Sudan will rise up.
“What is the point of freedom if people are still suffering? Freedom must come with advantages”
– From a Kenyan brother.
In 1994 I was working with a German NGO in Nyamlel on the river banks of Bar el Ghazal. The Dinka people gave me a local name, they named me Matuang dit. I'll never forget this experience with a bunch of good people. Watching videos in youtube about the development in politics in southern Sudan, makes we angry and very sad, nothing realy changed for the common people, suffering goes on and the big male Politicians are filling their pockets. It would be completely different, if this women would have become president, women in Africa are careing more for their people. Wonderful touching Documentary, done by wonderfull people, I wish for your People and Southern Sudan Peace and Unity.
My Prayers with you South Sudan, keep going you will reach there one day

“We have freedom, but can you eat freedom? It has to have some advantages.” A traumatized government and people… doing worse than the enemy did to them, to each other
