Many are hoping a ruling in South Africa’s favor could release the UN Security Council from it’s deadlock on Gaza – particularly its inability to call for a ceasefire.

It's International Law which is on trial. It's plainly a genocide case.But if the ICJ says anything else, then it means there's no working UN/ICJ/ICC at all.

Will the US block the Security Council acting to support the ICJ if it demands that Israel stops the killing? Almost certainly the answer is, it will. International Law is very much less important to the US than backing Israel is.
