  1. Hello, I have a question, is this one better quality of video and photo than the Xperia pro i? I am trying to decide if I should buy this one or the other for video and photo. Thank you so much

  2. My Experia 1 5 is very interesting phone. If you want a wallet busting eco system buy an iphone,if you are a happy snapper buy a Samsung, if you want a content creation tool put the experia 1 5 on your list especially if you can get a good deal..

  3. MKBHD for years claimed Sony phones are good, but just not for your average consumer. This video literally just proves him right, lmao. This is a bad faith take as he always been honest with that distinction, nice clickbait.

  4. Once I participated in an Instagram contest by Samsung Peru. I submitted a photo I think it was quite beautiful as a photograph, using the night mode and no editing. Is a photograph that with a dedicated camera would be impossible maybe, because the ISO would be needed to be raised to much while using a small aperture to get the landscape in focus. But the winners were just snapshots of selfies. I don't say this as wrong, it seems people that get to know the complexity of their devices are few, I find these Sonys objectively better, not overprocessed. But well :T

  5. Praise and pride for Sony Xperia, where all or most of phones sticking to offer 50mp cams, why stuck at 50 mega cams from low end to mid to high mid

  6. I don't even care too much about photography, I ordered this phone due to it having a great screen without a curve, no holepunch, front facing dual speakers, and upgradable storage. That being said I'm also looking forward to start playing with the camera once the phone arrives

  7. I love photography, i just bought a 1900€ Canon R6… but Sony smartphones are just another thing!
I can understand that some rich enthusiasts may want buy one, but was majority of photographer and general pubblic don't.

General public isn't interested at all into this, so reviewers doesn't even bother to focus on some more serious photography.
And photographers, with the price of this phone, prefer to buy a lens.

Now a days people want to shoot photos automatically, and then maybe add some stupid filter on it…. that's the reality.
These phone are very capable, like the 15 pro max with the ProRes, but what's the point at the end of the day?
A smartphone is a swiss knife: can do many thing but not good enough….

  8. I love Dutch accents, they are easily noticable. Groetjes uit NL 🤭

btw: The Lightroom edited photos at the beginning seem dark/dull compared to the unedited but vivid/lively counterparts.
Photography can be practiced in many ways/styles, and the only wrong results are resuls that don't meet the photographer's requirements/expectations (with or without editing in post).

In closing I would like to ask a question regarding recording videos using the selfie camera. I noticed that the selfie camera on a Motorola Moto G 5G look much brighter and better under lower light circumstances, compared to the selfie results coming from a Samsung Galaxy S23/S24. How could this be? It's crazy that I favor and like the budget phone's selfie camera exposure better than the S23/S24's one. In the end it all comes down to optics/lenses and sensors, but I expected the flagship Samsung to perform better in this area (despite the Samsung selfie camera supporting up to 4K@60fps).

  9. Xperia 1 IV user here. I enjoy using this phone so much and planning to get the next gen Sony Xperia. I never liked the auto HDR of other phones. I like to take control of the pics I am taking and I am happy I get to use actual lens to do so even when zooming. Digital zooming is minimal or non existent. My telephoto shots compared to other phones are not what some youtubers make the phone to be"bad". My point is…even the 1 mark IV is wonderful and when I see clueless people reviewing the camera prowess of the Sony Xperia devices makes me sad cos they have no idea what they are saying. Even their new game enhancer allows you to choose where to direct excess heat to on the apps added to it

  10. Ive been using 1V since its launch and honestly i dont understand 2 types of people first is the once who never even touched the phone and complains about it as if they daily used it and it sucked for them and the 2nd type that complains about the price yet they will be quick to buy Iphone 15 pro max for same price or samsung fold for double the price.
It really doesnt make any sense to me.
Does Iphones and samsungs better at other things ofc no doubt but sony is approaching the market by their own point of view and it works for people such as me who enjoys the camera and enjoy the phone its self, yes i still use wired headphones, yes i download my music in flac files, and yes i enjoy watching 4k movies on the 1V more than any other screen and alot more.
Camera wise people who bash the point and shoot of the 1V i dont think its fair to say its not good without trying the phone yourself because it is good its even as good as pixel or iphone as well with more natural look to it

  11. My Experia 1 V is a camera that puts creativity in my hands that also happens to be a phone!!. I don't think phone reviewers should review this phone – it should be photography channels and sites who are more qualified to do this.

One thing so far as I can see that a DSLR's do that camera phones don't is f stop using a real iris therefore depth of field control. I suppose this is addressed partly by the bokeh control.

I think most users of this camera/phone will already be experienced photoshoppers using RAW files, etc.

I would not advise anyone to expect great results at a mad party, for instance, where quick reaction is needed. Save that for the Google Pixel!!

  12. Exactly! I bought the phone. I love the phone most of the time. The form factor is awesome. I absolutely love using it. Software updates are a few months behind my Pixel, which is way ahead of Samsung, at least in terms of my last Samsung phone, which is many, many years ago. The cameras and the camera apps are great. BUT I can't count on the auto camera. It is like it is always on manual mode. Even in auto, in anything other than great light, I needed to make adjustments. And in low light, forget it. And that is the deal breaker. I shoot a lot of travel photos and I really care about the quality of the output. But I also bought the Pixel 8 Pro because I have been fully into Pixels since the beginning. And Pixel doesn't give me that sweet Sony control. But it absolutely delivers a very good photo every time. Sony fails far too often. It is frustrating. The Sony phone is just so good. But it doesn't work as a pocket camera, which it is first and foremost. I'm sad to get rid of it, but the Xperia, even if it is not meant for point and shoot, I'm sorry to say, we are pointing and shooting most of the times. This needs to be the priority, and all the enthusiast stuff should be right there when I want it.

Make a point and shoot, sell phones.

  13. I mean i mostly agree with the message in this video and i am actually holding my Xperia 5 III in my hands right now but i'd argue that for one u can make any picture look good in lightroom and well MKBHD and other reviewers are making videos for masses and so they use methods of comparison that masses will find useful, and Sony of course isn't a phone for masses, so of course that according to tests and standards Marques sets for phones Xperias will fail. I wouldn't say they offer the wrong information or anything. His video about the phone was actually pretty fair. And i mean tbh MKBHD isn't even like a real in depth reviewer anymore anyway, he's more of a high production tech entertainer more than anything.

  14. I can relate with the literal point and shoot no fuss easy to use that MKBHD is talking about. But clearly this phone is not meant for that, I mean it can but it gets beat by cheaper phones for delivering out of the box Instagram and facebook standard photos. Also some situations really do call for literally whip out your phone and take a quick shot before you miss the moment type of scenario.

Yesterday I was on a beach trip on a small boat with the boat rocking and I had to take photos of my mates bobbing on the water. I had my trusty old Sony NEX-F3 with a Nikon 50mm F1.8D on it with an adapter. All on manual even the focus was in manual. lol in that situation, it was either I use my phone (Poco F2 Pro) to quickly take shots… or risk throwing up while fiddling with the manual settings on my mirrorless much to my embarrassment . I choose the former 😂😂😂

  15. In short, get an iPhone, galaxy or pixel as a daily driver for fast and nice shots. They make great photos with point and shoot. If you want art… Use a Sony.

  16. Sony not having competitive automatic modes is inexcusable. Especially at the price point of this phone. Plenty of other flagships also have very detailed pro modes that can shoot in RAW. Defending Sony really does not make sense, they can and should provide both solutions

  17. here in the Philippines they already pulled out Sony in the market years ago due to lack competency with other brands, bad specs and too expensive phone compared to other brand.

  18. Perhaps Sony can create a soft button slider in the app simply called "Point And Shoot" mode, I’m sure many in the audience were horrified it came last in those blind tests.

  19. Nah, I am not buying a phone that needs so much work to just click a few pics. I would rather buy a used mirrorless or compact camera for that and it would still be cheaper. Think of the situation like this, you are at a place and once in a moment stuff happens and you are busy playing with the setting instead of clicking photos with the press of a button. That's why Iphone is always the king. Even friends old iphone from 2017 can take better videos than my s20 at any moment. I get embrassed each time when we bring out the phone and take a quick video of an event and check it later. I have to waste time editing it to upload it on social media while he just uploads it directly without Any editing.

  20. Sure, that's the point of the phone. But when you're showing samples from this phone alone, we're loosing context. I'd recommend finding someone that can lend you a Pixel 6a and an iPhone 15, so that you can try to compare the same shots from all three models. The details, in terms of quality alone, are obvious. And those phones achieve them without the need to play around with an app. I speak from experience. Still, I appreciated your video.

  21. Point and shoot has greatly improved to be fair
Yes you get the most out of it when playing with the settings, etc.
But more often than not, I use it on auto, and I'm very pleased with the results. They're better than my iPhone

  22. MKBHD is no longer a valid source of info in regard to picking up the phone. All those famous bloggers presenting gandegts in the most boring way. Markus, apart from his channel, confirmed that many times that his choice is always an iPhone and Pixel. Period.

  23. Sony Xperia getting unfair coverage as usual. Its an extremely capable camera and especially the main lens 😍

I actually think the sony is no slouch on auto mode and in my testing on occasions it gives images more pleasing than the 'best camera phones' of course this is subjective.

What isn't subjective is the capability of Sony's camera on the xperia line so glad you made this video mate 😎🔥❤️

  24. Sony biggest problem is to sell their DSLR camera lenders and sensors to bigger tech giants Asus and samsubg but for years use crappy lenders and sell their products for the price of arm and a leg

  25. This video is clickbait and you knew it.
MKBHD knows how good is the camera is if you actually have skills but the auto software sucks and there is not a single excuse for it to suck like that. The portrait shots it made are a fuckin joke, you cant get results that awful out of an iphone 3GS

  26. Sony should remove the crappie “Auto” , “Basic” modes so that youtubers stop using this phone as a point and shoot. It should be purely manual so that it doesn’t get placed in the wrong category where it performs badly. Problem is Sony pretends that this phone could be used by average with auto mode to produce good photos which is not true.

  27. I totally agree with THIS review of the Xperia. I kept telling my friends the MKBHD video was disingenuous at best. If he didn't not like features like the near 4k display and the large screen he should have just used the Xperia 5V. He also never mentioned the Xperia 10 series. In my experience, the only time I take good pictures is when I have a Sony phone, with my current device being a Samsung Galaxy the photos are generally good if you know nothing about photography but are consistently average at best even when using Pro photo mode. This is why I just stopped using phones to take pictures until i get an Xperia again. The only thing I really really hate about the phone are the size 10 bezels. It's just not good these days.

  28. Im a photographer using Sony mirrorless camera but i can’t imagine using this kind of camera app in my phone. When im taking photos with my phone i just want to quickly capture the moment and move on and most phones priced under 1/3rd of this model are able to pull out decent shot regardless of settings and conditions. If you want to get into photography you can literally buy entry level mirrorless or even used dslr and something like iPhone 11/12 for the price of this Sony Xperia.

  29. I love the output of the Sony. But, when I want to snap a quick photo of my daughter, I don't have the luxury of tinking with the photo settings! I want it to do both

  30. That's like buying a racing car and complaining why it can't go off road like g wagon, makes no sense to review tech products like that ….if I just want a good camera, why spend 1000 plus to take basic pictures? Make no sense
