  1. As a Yemeni citizen, I would like to thank you for visiting our country. I hope that you spent an enjoyable time on the island and that you convey to the world a beautiful image of our country again. Thank you.

  2. What an interesting documentary. My only critique is that the dubbing was very uncanny valley. There is no reason to use dubbing; people can read subtitles.

  3. An alright documentary, sadly way too political… I was hoping for highlights in Socotra traditional culture, not so much a 20-minutes long of UAE appraisal…
And above all, where are all the women?

  4. Apart from the beautiful beaches, there is not a thing that would entice me here. I have seen travel brochures, but they don’t show all the rubbish in and around the town. I’m glad I didn’t waste my money on a tour

  5. Somebody wrote that Israel should own the Island,I agree for the simple reazon that they know how to make a desert green, with their know how, they know how to make an arid place come to life ,but these nations will never learn they like to live in the eleventh century specially their religion keeps them backward!

  6. I worry about how willing the locals are to accept these gifts. As we say in English "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch". The Saudis and Emiratis are not giving these gifts to be nice and friendly, they have ulterior motives. They want power and influence, they want to take the Socotrans independence away. Today they give gifts, tomorrow they'll demand to take over the political system. It reminds me of the stories of Pablo Escobar giving gifts to the local community to trick the locals into supporting and protecting him. Accepting these gifts from the Saudis and Emiratis is like accepting gifts from the devil. It's a trick.
