Tonight I don't feel like having anything but vitumbuwa.. trying this as I watch ..
you should dunk your spoon into the hot oil prior to scooping the batter, that way batter mostly slides out into the oil. also, I think you need deeper oil to make it flip on it's own. not 100% might also be related to temperature. you might need to to tune it to be high enough to flip, but low enough to have time to cook through before it burns on the outside. but I'd try with more oil first that's easier to test
