All the so-called developments we have in Africa are not development.. they are not real, we have to depend on the east or west for them. That's not true development.

This is why Ghana needs Cheddar, he is the man with such seal to claim what belongs to us back. At least we must be able to own it and hire the foreign experts to maintain them for us since our own people have poor maintenance culture.

If you are referring data hosting..that is another thing!

Many thanks for bringing this up.

I am in the Tech industry and share your concerns.

I will say the problem is 3 pronged:

    1. Africans as individuals and as entrepreneural groups are too disunited aka divided for a myriad of reasons and as such are slow to seize the opportunities before those from abroad seize control by exploiting the division. Even perpetuate it. Take for e,g. How Nigeria is resisting Dangote refining Nigeria's oil. It took Dangote to ask if they are fed up of Being slaves to wake up the masses that the greed of got is poisoning us with impure fuel.

    2. Digital divide: By and large the Digital divide is still very wide with most Africans still not online, or know the uses of a smart phone.
In Nigeria the association with fraud and fear of losing money from online banking is greater than the desire to try it, since it will cost them money.

    3. Government Lack of foresight and poor prioritisation due to greed.

From these 3 pronged, the quickest way to solve the problem is for entrepreneurs to band together and sheer synergies based on what they bring to the table with a constitution that excludes foreign control.

And continue meeting until they agree, knowing it will not be simple but extremely difficult. To learn from others like Dangote.

We own ours in Nigeria. There's a company called Main One Network, its a Nigerian owned, they supply network to many telecom providers, (although they sold part of their equity recently) they have undersea cables from Nigeria to Europe. Then we have Glo fibre system, which have undersea cable from Nigeria to the Uk, fully owned by Glo (Mikr Adenuga)

You are doing well. Africans love consumption and are more interested in Real Estate because that's what they see on YouTube/Instagram/all these social media. Once again, we are not seeing how and why these foreigners are dominating us whilst we lament about bad governance. Well done my brother, knowledge is power. Love from Nigeria 👍

Dude your information is decieving. Are you talking about DATA CENTERS or DATA SERVERS? Servers are just racks of computers to host websites. Data centers are your connections to the internet backbone which is the FIBRE, so which is which?………………….

In addition we need our own satellite and cable system for data services and not rely foreign systems… I know South Africa and Nigeria have quite a handful of satellites but they are not for Internet services.. Does Internet setup require any international permit?
