  1. "I want the story of slavery told" Agreed! 💯%! How sad that since this 1st originally aired, the Far Right crazies have been causing all kinds of trouble in our school systems and libraries, trying to suppress that history be properly taught. God only knows what they're so afraid of?!!

  2. I live near my great-great grandmothers grave site according to my grandmother who is now deceased. Neither I nor my family members can find her grave and there are now townhomes on that property.

  3. We all have stories like this one. When I moved back to the south from Jersey, I started learning so many amazing stories about my grand and great grandparents. But there is so much more to know.

  4. What an incredible full circle moment for this family!! Their ancestors was OWNED in that house, and now THEY own it!! That's so wonderful💙💙Congratulations you guys!!

  5. Good Job 60 minutes love you all very much Ms.Loretta Nunley a faithful Jehovahs Witness keep up the good work please for me go to russia and do a show on the prison lives of Jehovah Witnesses held by presdient putin thank you so much❤❤❤

  6. It took me all of 2 mins to guess where this story was going. I’m 56% European and 37% African 8% Native American. I did my ancestry… immagrint story in both sides… my mom is mostly German and welsh . My granddads family came around mid 1800’s my grandmas the 1890’s from Germany… my dads line was in South Carolina in 1720. My ancestors were slaves and they helped build this country.

Why is this ironic. It’s not. It’s not surprising. Our families have been here multiplying for multi generations and in the same states where our ancestors came.

My 70 year old black father left Louisiana when he was 15 to Seattle WA … one of 7 kids.

  7. I’d like to know if they can go back further and see if their family’s ancestry was of the “copper colored “ native indigenous Americans that were taken from their tribes and then turned into indentured servants/prisoners of war ? 🤔

For whatever reason, shows like this don’t dig deeper than 1865.

The roots story was plagiarized by Alex Haley and was/is a narrative chosen to continue hide the history of the copper colored people that Columbus saw when he arrived in the Americas.

There are plenty of books (not found in set curriculum schools) that will show deeper origins of history for folks who were not descendants from the African continent but, rather descendants of the American continent that may share similar coiled hair but, different phenotypes. Very much like today.

The Egyptian-like dwellings found in the Grand Canyon is one of the proven history of these very people.

This may have been one of the reasons why there was no discussion of “slavery” from their elders and why the younger generations didn’t know anything about it until “roots”. A story being told to make everyone who look similar believe that is their story, sadly.

There were many wealthy communities from the indigenous Americans that were destroyed by running roads through them or bombed on by American military on American land.

But, don’t take my word for it or anyone else’s…do your research and see for yourself.

  8. Hooray family!! So happy for your discovery, because there are so many of us that are unable to go back that far. We hear stories or hit a brick wall while searching, but you were diligent, and what a story!!

  9. Thanks so much for compiling these videos segments together to make us aware of what was buried so deep in America's soil and history and forgotten are still relevant to the accomplishments of blacks and are our legacy of a tragic past that others still want to keep cover up and deny because they are not willing to compensate and with us it's just a get over it attitude.
The plantation portion was just awesome and showed how our grandparents were not particular actually looking back because even the white guy mention to one of them and they just shrugged it off.
It great that I even find out about people I saw n pictures of historical moments and realize they had something to say about their life, like the girl on the balcony during MLKJ assassination.
We have so much to learn about ourselves and our history is very important makeup of America today.
Thanks for sharing and blessings to you and all in the days to come.

  10. This young man has no idea what he's talking about! Do more research. I'm a 60 year old African-American woman has experienced racism everywhere I went, it's worse now! You're a young Asian man, you'll see as time goes on.😂

  11. Hunny this video is exactly why saying "it was a long time ago move on" will probably be a issue for many. The exhuming and foundations built over them is just not enough for certain people to just say it is uncomfortable to teach especially in Florida.

  12. Oh this us such s marvelous story! It usnt over the now open book of their family. Oh I do believe God brought them to this house to bring their past before them . Its like a gift!

  13. Let Me tell You about Sharswood Honest to Goodness My Partner and I Moved the Last Owners Not The Black Family The Two White Gentlemen who purchased it. My partner and I and our moving company moved the Whole property that which they wanted… they left a lot of the original Furnishings which came with the property when they purchased it. That was per Contract…. That property has some things that they didn’t say on this show I was There. Saw it with my own eyes touched everything with my own hands so I could have that in my soul. I have 2 pieces of furniture small pieces that they allowed me to purchase I have them right now as of this date… 19 March 2024

  14. My husband's ancestors, Chinese Indonesians, were all built over in Indonesia. It was horrible. The owners of the cemetaries knew the plots were there and just lifted out the plaques, leaving the bodies there, to build over.

  15. I cried watching this. This is so sad, and wonderful at the same time. So amazing the Miller's found their family ancestors on the very land they drove by daily as kids, and then bought as adults, only to find out their ancestors were slaves on that very land. They even found the cemetary with all the unmarked plots. I'm so happy for them that they not only found out the history of their family, but they found their actual family.
