that dish is actually called ojja not shakshouka. shakshouka is a sauce or soup that is made with whatever available, basically not a fixed recipe. shakshouka means something similar to "chaotically mixed", not sure how to translate it better lol
Im from Morocco and we eat something quite similar, but it shouldnt taste like plain tomatosauce or anything italian. Maybe because we use different herbs and spices, but I'm not sure because I never make it but my grandmother does. It also should be served on freshly cut fries with the eggs on top. Also you should eat it with your hands! (with the bread) It's like a late night quick dinner dish we make. Super simple but very good at like 10 PM if you want to get a good quick meal in.
