Save Money Building Your Own Slat Wall

If, like me, you like wooden slat walls but think what they cost is over the top then consider building your own from scratch.

  1. Out of the box suggestion, cut get a cheaper plunge/track saw cutting strips of mdf you wrap with material and sound absorbing material, then pin to decorative ply which you’ve sanded and painted making sure the gaps are wider 👀

  2. Nice work. the only issue I have is the background. This is an acoustic panel and the background is supposed to aid in absorbing sound. %There are non-accounstic plastic panels with a similar look that cost less than your budget. But I love your initiative cos I'm using the same strategy to build my acoustic panel.

  3. Interesting video, but a table saw comes with a crown guard, not for decoration, but for your safety. Not only is it bad practice, you should
connect your extractor to it and stop getting sprayed with sawdust. Dust which will remain in the air long after taking your mask off.

  4. Oak panels ate not that expensive when you think of all the time and cost and mess I have saw and plainer but I bought mine and glad I did buy install sweet 😂 if you use pine don't use red it holds more moisture so when it does dry out it could twist Like a donkeys back leg.

  5. i'm doing the same project after my kitchen renovation is done. pre-made wood panels are ridiculous expensive and its all made in china.. i will do a black matte paint instead of the fabric then some stained 1×2 straight to my drywall.

  6. Please don't reach over a running blade to get the cut parts. Either use an outfeed table or let the pieces fall down but stop the saw before even moving your hands forward.

  7. I seen these down B&Q and they look crap, much better done this way. Now my mother will probably make these now iv shared this and shes 68 and has the same table saw as you . Thanks for the video subbed for this top workmanship

  8. the point with the ones in store is the backing is thick wool/cotton material and not wood, cause its works as acoustic absorber and difuser. urs complete wood will not work so good acoustically.

  9. Nice project! I am admiring this from across the pond in the Golden State. One thing I wonder is this a possible heat sink? I wonder how something similar count be done on the outside wall.

  10. Amazing.Yes investing in tools saves lots of money.
Also ,you forget to add labour for a carpenter for a day.
    Add £200 per day.
The total cost saving will be more than £700.
