The project came about largely in response to Ko Nimo lamenting the loss…

Hi everyone – the website listed in this video has been taken down. Apologies for any confusion. It was set up to launch the project, not hold resources, so you won't be missing anything. thanks for your interest.

Thumb piano? Have my Moms tapes of music from Ghana 1968! Cherish them a lot! Would love to play drums with any African tribal group! Thank you!

The tradition will go on! No worries my beautiful people. Here, I know for FACT that black Americans will LOVE to pass on musical traditions along with the dances, as they are Ghanean and their ancestors who were stolen/sold off to here have indeed brought those traditions to wherever they were sent – by the colonizers- to "live". Everyone knows that the colonizers had chopped their hair, branded them, tore off their jewelry and clothing to stand them out in the open to publically shame them, took their everything, outlawed their drumming, music, singing, dancing, and outlawed their original African names and replaced their names with colonizers names, and outlawed their a ability to read. They didn't even let them go pee when they truly needed to! So yes! The blood runs strong through their veins. They – generation after generation after generation – have NEVER cared to be so distant from their homelands and most all of them want NOTHING to do with the colonizers ways or mindsets and they want ALL that was taken from them BACK!
