  1. A huge thank you to everyone in Brazil for having me in your country and another huge thank you to everyone who has watched any of the videos! Near the end of this video I give updates on the 2 fundraisers that we have done together that had big success thanks to you all. Many people in need in the Rochina Slum in Rio and the refugees in Manaus fleeing Venezuela have had their lives improved drastically thanks to your generosity. Join me next week for the next country, it is going to be wild. Leave your guesses of the country in a comment below and stay up to date on my Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/indigo.traveller/
    Cheers! Nick 🇧🇷

  2. By 2021, the once-every-10-year survey that IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) makes was already 1 year late because of the pandemic, so the best thing we had were only estimates about the number of people living in the cities. Salvador had an estimate of around 3 million, but when the census was finally made in 2022, the real number turned out to be 2,417,678.

  3. I am a Cameroonian (West-Central African) and I'm aware that a lot of the Afro-Brazilians were taken from my part of Africa. I'm trying to save up and hopefully visit in early 2026. My Ghanaian brother Wode Maya's Brazil vlog made me fall in love with Brazil even more. Thanks for this video too. The gentleman at 9:04 resembles actor Tony Todd so much😊❤

  4. I spent 2 weeks in salvador in 2001 (carnival) and absolutely hated it.
The poverty level is insane, like in India, with starving, homeless and drug addicts everywhere.
The carnival is a true testament to the pathetic state of the city, where only the wealthy
can buy entrance into the "blocos" and "trio eletricos" and wear the shirts (they call it "abadás")
that allow you to dance the carnival songs protected from the poor and crime by a square made of rope
that is carried by dirt poor people who is paid a dollar a day (yes, U$ 1.00 per day!) to carry this rope the whole
day under a 100F sun without drinking water or going to the bathroom, and all the artists and musicians still
have the NERVE to advertise this as "the people's most democratic carnival", yeah right… only the wealthy are able
to be there, some of the tourists not wary of the situation decide to go outside the isolation rope only
to be beaten up and robbed almost immediately,…

And then finally, when the carnival is over the wealthy take their boats and yatchs and go to
Morro de São Paulo for a few more days of ostentation while the poor remain in salvador
with brooms in their hands sweeping all the litter the wealthy and tourists have produced and left behind.

  5. I can imagine that making these videos takes a high toll on Nick's mental health but for me they give me faith in humanity. We're not all that different from each other, we're just trying to survive with as much meaning in our life as we can. We need to find away of getting rid of useless governments who do nothing for us. We're talking about a revolution

  6. I was there in Salvador back in 2018 & 2019 in one of the worst and poorest area, Piraja. When they see that you are white they try to scam you on every way possible, if you go to any beach or restaurant around the city or city center you will never be in peace longer than 5 minutes. Disrespect level million. They don't really like gringos whatever you may think but it's true that no one will tell you. Even female dentist in the heart of city center tried to scam me but it's hard to scam someone who survived war as a child. Good luck to anyone who is going to visit this s..t.ole of a city. Never again for sure, not even in the next life

  7. Wow, so beautiful to see the end and how people donate and help. You are doing such a great charity work with your trips. It is also so good to become more educated about how people around the world are expirience life. Thank you all so much for having big hearts!

  8. That peninsula is Ribiera, my girlfriend lives there and I lived there for a few months. Really feels like home where the light bay breeze blankets the neighborhood with a calming vibe. I hope you had ice cream at the famous place there.
