Russia never colonized nobody. They are seen partners in Africa. On the other hand, France is a colonizer. A nasty one at that
The real question is whether the west can cooperate with developing countries via a win-win partnership like China does across the globe (and it works!)!, or continue the old habit of mafia-boss like relationships, trickery, exploitation, interference and supremacist, and colonialist mentality. One of these methods is sustainable, and one is not. China chose wisely.

The Sahel region is… actually Frances's biggest cash cow in the world. It's where a huge amount of its gold reserves come from. Where not only did they exploit the Uranium, for 5% of the market price to power their nuclear plants but also to sell at a 70-80% profit to other customers! This will seriously weaken France, and with a domino effect collapse the neo-colonialism of the other Western and Central African countries. It really exposes the self-entitlement and inhumane exploitation that they have continued to enforce. It cannot be underestimated what a blow this is for the Frogs. Even worse these nations will publicly expose, and give evidence of this with the diplomatic help of the BRICS countries. They may even claim back some of the Gold reserves. France are in for a hard time!
