Celebrating and dancing over 2 artifacts that was rightfully returned back to the Motherland? Really? No time to celebrate! Get all of the thousands artifacts to be brought back! Don't celebrate over something that originally was stolen from Africa. Ridiculous!
Only a st!p!d country like Ghana would have their stolen artifacts loaned to them by the thief.
How do they know if it’s the real thing and not a copy that’s what I’ve always wondered?
Why everything in western museums are stolen? Where’s the white peoples civilization? Even Stonehenge not built by whites says Jeffery Higgins an 1846 AD European author; he says the Hindu black Africans build India, Cambodia, Thailand and Stonehenge in Britain. With all the modern technology whites still doesn’t know their origin.
It's about d@mn time! Thieves!🙄😡😤🤬🤷🏾♀️😎
You should get a lot more than that
Benin is a country built on slavery and they have not taking responsibility for it. In fact they have been happy to see their customers take the blame. But they are still marked and will one day receive their account. These are spoils of war and should not have been returned.
Benin is an ethnic group in today's Edo state of Nigeria.
In Pre colonial times Benin metamorphosed into an empire that controlled between Lagos and Asaba cities in modern Nigeria.
At its peak Benin was about 90,000 sq km in size.
The Oba( ruler) of Benin was the symbol of the Benin empire.
In Pre colonial times, Benin was a slave raiding, slave holding and slave trading society. For over three centuries, the Obas ( rulers) of Benin SOLD tens of thousands of people Benin captured in wars to the European slave merchants in exchange for outdated guns, gunpowder, MANILAS, mirrors etc.
Benin was heavily involved in the transatlantic slave trade.
The Manilas( a horse shoe shaped metal) were melted down in furnaces to make the Benin bronzes. Which makes the Benin bronzes proceeds from selling people into slavery.
In Jan. 1897, Benin attacked an unarmed British delegation coming to Benin to discuss trade. This attack left 7 out of the 9 Britons dead and over 100 black men who came with the British. Only two white men escaped and a few blacks escaped.
In response to the attack, Britain invaded Benin and burnt it to the ground and made Benin a very very tiny part of the British empire. The Benin bronzes were seized and taken to Britain and some of bronzes were sold to museums in many Western countries.
As a Nigerian watching the return of those two Benin bronzes to the current Oba of Benin makes me very ashamed and annoyed with the Nigerian government, because they( the Nigerian government) are simply rewarding the descendant of the most brutal slave owners on the African continent.
They have no other choice. There Time is Up. The Hands of Times have changed. Popcorn Time 😅😅😅😅
Wow it’s a step in the direction despite the thousands of artifacts from Africa that remain in the belly of the Vatican.
Go Benin. Sue England. Make Africa Great Again.
One day Africans will loot Europe.Their population idmael dropping and ours is exploding. We will continue to invade them until we overun them. They will know how we felt when the colonizers kept on coming to Africa to kill , enslave and steal.
I was under the impression walls of Benin was burned to the ground by the British Punitive exped in and then sacked?
Is it a loan or a give back?
Benin should sue England
