  1. Thanks for the review! You should try to pick varying weights next time, especially for 308. 150gr, 130, 110, even 190. I bet you'd find better groups if most of your rounds weren't so similar.

  2. Almost all rifles will have a ammo they prefer that was a bit bigger spread then i would like to see as well for that many diffeerent ammo types. The ruger Americans have always been cold hammer forged. and Ruger cold hammer forges almost all of their rifle barrles even including the Ruger 10/22.

  3. How long did it take to test 10 different loads? Was it allowed to cool between load changes. Was it cleaned between load changes so that each load would have the same starting point as far as having a clean barrel? The muzzle break looked really dirty is why I was asking. These are all things that could affect the accuracy that have nothing to do with the actual rifle. All of the other reviews I have seen show it to be fairly accurate, but they were different calibers. Thanks in advance.

  4. Did you think to try any 150g bullets? I'm curious if it lights the lighter grain stuff. I have owned several 308 rifles and crazy enough some love 150 and hate 165-180 and some hate 150 and love 165-180. Crazy but true.

  5. Gen 1 was NOT button rifled, Ruger is as far as I know COMPLETLY cold hammer forged for quite a while now
I would NOT send a Ruger in for warranty work with an aftermarket trigger, or any aftermarket parts for that matter, they probably will not come back to you!

  6. I have the Gen2 in 7mm08 and it shoots the factory ammo i've tried under an inch with a 3-9×40 at 100 yards. It does not feed smoothly and the trigger sucks but it does shoot well

  7. Love all your videos. Any chance you could review the tikka t3x super varmint? I'm looking at one in 6.5 creedmoor and if I'm going to pay $1,500 for one here in the USA it needs to be top notch..thanks.

  8. First off 308 VS 6.5 Creedmoor 308 barrel can last up to 8,000 rounds Creedmoor 2,000-3,000 Big game 308 heaver bullets. Drop in a trigger spring upgrade. I know pain it's a pain to remove the trigger latch. do the trigger spring and blue lock tight action screws at 50 inch pounds then test again. I would buy a magpul stock for more feathers and end the mag release for good. There are no box stores rifle that don't need upgrades. I did this to my ranch rifle 5.56 but used a timney trigger. 75 grain hornady steel match sub one MOA five shot groups.

  9. What people fail to understand, this is a sample size of one. I have seen, for the most part, this being a “average” one MOA rifle. You will get shots between 3/4 and 1-1/4 for three shot groups. That is still really good for a budget rifle. I personally have taken my time and got one group that was .302”. I consistently get groups that are .9 and .8. That was with federal gold medal match 168 grain the 175s shot a little better but I like the 168 for my other rifles and my friends who help reload. You may have harmonic issues with the stock, a picky rifle, or poor quality control. I would be interested to know what would happen if you took the rifle apart and retorqued it down. My stock had even gap between each side of the barrel. Most of them do not, and this can cause accuracy issues.

People need to stop getting offended by honest reviews even if someone accidentally says the wrong thing. People are right, it is not the predator model. It is the new standard model.

I actually find it quite incredible that your Mossberg patriot is averaging under 2 inches. Most reviews I have seen are far worse. This is a point in case of this video. Most videos I have seen with the Ruger Gen two is far more accurate than yours.

As for the barrel length issue, if you measure a barrel using the approved method of breach face to muzzle, it is 21 inches. Subtract the 1 inch of muzzle break and you get 20 inches.

I highly encourage you to research the nomenclature of what you’re talking about. People will easily discredit what you’re talking about if you don’t sound like you know what you’re talking about. I have been there, trust me lol.

All things considered, you shouldn’t have to, but I would do some things to ensure that the actual barrel is the issue before claiming the accuracy deficiencies you were getting. Maybe contact Ruger and explain that to them and see what they have to say. I have contacted Ruger for several things over the years and find their customer service to be quite satisfactory.

  10. Doesn't even know what he is reviewing and downgrading it. That's a Gen 2 standard. made it to 8 minutes of his ignorance and uneducated review that is far from Epik

  11. Not a fan of the muzzle break. I'm throwing 30-06 at elk and deer. Don't really care about muzzle climb but I do care about the massive shockwave and sound I know you can take it off but still. Barrels kinda whack as well and so is the stock. It's just really ugly all around.

  12. Wow, what a bummer. Gen 1’s we’re noted for their awesome accuracy, their “meh” trigger, and their CRAPPY stock. Now they have an awesome stock, still a “meh” trigger, and CRAPPY accuracy. So disappointing, really was hoping to get one in 6.5CM since the stocks are rad now, but with accuracy an issue, I’m going to look elsewhere.

  13. How many factory rifles shoot consistently under an inch at 100y with factory ammo. My personal experience has showed me the opposite to you results. The .308 win has been always more accurate on average than any of the .264 cal rivals, 260 rem, 6.5 cr and so on. The closer a cartridge approaches the point of being overbore, the more difficult they are to be made accurate. So, does this test of this .308, conclude the rifle is not accurate or that factory ammo on average can't do better than 2 moa, is really the question.

  14. I have one in .243. I like it so far under 1” at 100 yards. I don’t know why they call it 20” barrel because I would say it’s actually 18.75”. I really don’t think the muzzle brake should be counted in barrel length.. Stupid..

  15. I picked up a 2018 built Ruger American 300 AAC Ranch secondhand under 1/2 the cost of the Gen 2 goes for in Australia. Very happy with it and no secretly wishing I held out and got the new model.
Only thing I wish it has the rust resistant coating, can always get that done if I want later.

  16. Most 308win rifles do much better with the 150-168gr projectiles. Also Rugers typically require a bit of a barrel break in, in my experiences with the Gen1 standard and predator models. After that and handloading I see groups below 1/2moa.
Action and barrel in the gen2 look nice, the rest look like garbage, would put it in an Oryx or MDT Field Stock.

  17. I have 2 gen 1's waiting for the 30-06 to come out. will trade off my gen 1 06. Even though I have zero complaints on the rotary clips of old
Both of mine have M*CARBO trigger spring. down under 2lbs

  18. Hi , just to clarify i’m not calling into question your accuracy as i know you can shoot well . However , surely you can’t be satisfied with a rifle that shoots nearly 3 inch groups at 100 yards ?
If i was playing devils advocate i would say some air rifles are more accurate than that .
    All the best 👍

  19. Yours isn't the first review where the accuracy of these gen 2 rifles are called into question. Im just happy I didn't run out and buy one the first chance I got. I decided to wait and see what kind of performance the gen 2 would produce. So far I haven't been happy with what I have seen.
