Riding single mountain tracks, on big Adventure Bikes in South Africa. EPISODE 37
We take our adventure bikes on some mountain trails in the mountains of Elgin in Cape Town South Africa. Some steep descents and uphills. Look out for the audio from our Grumpy muppet from the 12min mark onwards, classic.

Hi i dont know if you will see this comment but im trying to find out where you rode there as google maps leaves much to be desired, if you can give a rough idea, would appreciate. Gonna cycle here before riding, looks hectic lol but a lot of fun
Great video ! It would ring a bell with all off road riders. Confidence and a bit of aggression can get you places you wouldn't dream of.
You probably have the skills but not the confidence.
Practice , practice, and don't be afraid to make a few stuff ups.
so will the new ktm1290 r climb this
You guys were very near from the River and the view was so beautiful 😊
Keith goan wrong by downing from the hill by left side and than he slipped there and 2nd time you switched off your engine and you also slipped but at that time you are in the right side. Anyways, guys thanks for sharing. Good job and keep it up 😊👍
bikes that heavy arent meant for offroad man. i always see them struggle
Nice views from the top.
Yeh the guy on the CRF is laughing, sorry not CRF, but you get my meaning, here in Thailand the CRF for serious off roading is top favourite.
I guess BMW would not block you but you are blocing them….
Nice video. What rough terrain! So many rocks. Great place to ride though.
It's funny. I grew up riding bikes offroad, and one of my first was a Yamaha DT175. (early '80s) Not a lot of power, true, but that bike would go darn near anywhere. We climbed some very tough hills with those bikes. (Pennsylvania, US) It was difficult enough handling those lightweight bikes thru some tough terrain. I can't imagine doing so with some of the huge adventure bikes I see on here! Props to all of you for being able to do so on your adventure.
Looks great! Own a 990R myself, the mountains to the left of Sir Lowry's pass are also great to explore.
Wilderness extractions are expensive. And if it's only your bike that has to be extracted, you are lucky! This was definitely above the skill level. Makes great video and all, but probably not much fun in the moment.
A think the little 390 adventure would leave these bikes behind in these conditions.
Primo jol
Decent adv tyres would have helped. Tyres are nearly always the limiting factor.
Another cool vid! Would love to go exploring here too, where did you guys start from?
it's time to
buy a horse
Ha good times Offroad. Any bike can go anywhere the rider wants to. Some awesome trails there, I would take my
08 R1200GSA any day
Geez, not a one of you has appropriate tyres. In that place I'd be leaving the BMW in the garage and take my little CRF250 Rally with proper 90/10 offroad tyres.
I’d of struggled a bit on my 500exc and more so on my 690, but no way would I have even tried on my 990! I solved the stalling and clutch wear while trying to climb on all of my bikes by installing a Rekluse clutch.
Retrace meant going back up that hill ?
Refreshing to see a South African adventure riding video. Typical adventure riders of various skill levels. Just like the group I ride with. Keep it up
nice your outings but they are hard, bravo from FRANCE
Awesome video guys.Thks.
Fantastic
That stop at 4:30 was one of my worst nightmares come true! I'd be turning around and going back down. I know… I'm chicken.
Nice riding guys!
That was epic guys, waiting to see your next challenge 👍🏻👍🏻
