Rhode Island college students gift security guard trip to visit family in Nigeria


Students at Providence College raised money through a GoFundMe for a dorm security guard to buy a plane ticket to Nigeria, after learning he hadn’t visited family there in nearly 11 years. The security guard, known as James, is expected to take the trip over the summer. WJAR’s Erin Coogan reports.

  1. Isn’t it a shame that even folks that moved to the USA simply can’t afford flights tickets to visit Nigeria. My question is, is it really worth it moving to the USA and then lying to people back home about how awesome life is out there?

  2. In the full video he gave an acceptance speech at the end and everything dawg was grateful for sure I can already see the family pictures he gon be taking

  3. It’s a beautiful thing what those students do but if you’re working full time for years, you’re supposed to visit your family at least once in a few years. The economy really is getting worse

    I see it's a GFM, lol, but great job still! Something like that is very interesting, I've seen it used for all sorts of things that I would never have thought to put up. Amazingly curious. Seems ripe for scams.
