I'm an american and I can guarantee you that the western nations' militaries were never at all there to help any African countries. ZERO. In fact, though terrorist groups may been there before the western militaries came to the Sahel (or anywhere else in the world), the terrorist groups were most likely already receiving money and weapons/training in order to make the African countries desperate. Then the western countries come in with large money to buy off governments to authorize western countries to set up long-term military bases and pretend they are helping the poor Africans who can't help themselves (they how western governments think, not me). Yet as long as those military basses are there, the terrorism problem never seems to get better, even though these countries have some of the most advanced equipment and satellites, GPS, etc. It's because those western governments don't want the problem to get better, because then there is little reason for them to stay by the eyes of the nation's people. But remember, the westerners were never there to help the African nation, they were there to, 1) keep their puppet government in power, or, 2) make sure to safeguard any contracts they have for raping the nation of it's natural resources with barely anything to the people, or, 3) keep a reason for a military presence as they may use this country as a place to spy on neighboring African nations deemed anti-western, have a presence for easy, quick deployment of western military forces against nearby African countries, or any number situations that have nothing to do with fighting terrorism. The U.S. especially has used this tactic in many foreign countries in order to gain permission to establish a military presence with the country unaware of america's true intention. That is exactly why they are in the Sahel because they they see it as a military strategic area to spy on a wide area of surrounding African nations and can operate drone spy missions for american intelligence, not anti-terrorism purposes, CIA and NSA operations. France was in Africa to sustain it's neo-colonial mining operations. But western countries cannot yet get rid of their white superiority thinking over the African people and I don't when they will ever begin to. I can't speak of other countries as I have no experience with how they look upon the people of Africa. But I am glad that the African nations, at least a majority it seems, are standing up and saying no more colonialism, we can and will make our own decisions.😊
