  1. There will always be ‘racism’ in America because they specifically choose to distinguish themselves as ‘*** American’. I.e. ‘Irish American’, ‘African American’, ‘Italian American’, ‘Mexican American’.

  2. Oprah's an idiot! How can anybody misconstrue what Raven said?! If people choose to remain ignorant then so be it. Raven doesn't need to explain herself to these fools! Oprah was not born in Africa! By her logic she should call herself Mississippian-American! 🤣🤣🤣

  3. GIRL WE ALREADY KNOW WHY YOU ARE A LIGHT SKIN WOMAN YOU ALL HAVE A PRIVILEGED COMPLEX OVER DARK SKIN PEOPLE AND ARE VERY AWARE YOUR SKIN TONE IS MORE DESIRED IN THE INDUSTRY… DONT GASLIGHT US.

  4. We are African Americans whether we were born kn African or have our lineage traces back to Africa..so LOVE it. Until we are all treated equally we are not one. Idk who you have intercourse with and marry thays not gonna change a thing.

Be happy as an African American.

  5. To me, African-American is specific to post-reconstruction/20th century African immigrants. I've always distinguished myself as a black American because I've been fortunate enough to trace my ancestry pretty far back and know that it's pretty mixed- like many black Americans are and like Raven is. I never thought anything of her comment, personally, but like she said- we love to compartmentalize and label as humans. We should try to be intentional and clear with said labels, IMO.

  6. Am sure the hate came from the black community…how dare she make sense or be reasonable by stating a different opinion by allegedly denouncing her race aka "sellout"😂😂😂😂😂😂

  7. I’m just disappointed that she didn’t understand being an American is a nationality even when you break down the word nationality you get the first word nation the nation is America. Your parents come from African descent 😂😂😂😂😂 ethic group then nationality please stop being duds

  8. I have no sympathy for Raven-Symoné. Instead of getting mad at people for criticizing her she should do some introspection about why she has a problem with being labeled African.

  9. As long as labels keep getting shoved in faces nobody is going to acknowledge, admit and understand there is only one race, the human race. And that race might just be run.

We are separated by whatever is between your legs and blood type. Physical features don't count, you are a human being and nothing more.

Defining OURSELVES any other way plays right into the rich people's plan, keep us fighting amongst ourselves while they rape you, me and OUR COUNTRY FOR ANOTHER DOLLAR . . .

    FROM OUR POCKETS!!!!!!!!

  10. I never called myself a White American or a European American or a Hungarian American so why do people call themselves a African American all these years? I always wondered that. Too many labels in this world.

  11. There is no difference between African and black and we call you black Americans is kind enough from all of us. We do not call you blacks, (African Americans.) Yawn!

  12. I grew up abroad. Someone like her would have been referred to as mixed where I grew up. Never as one race.

Plus race was almost never even talked about! The obsession with race is a particularly American thing!

  13. As a black woman, I think some black ppl are tired of dealing with America’s racial construct. We are Americans! If folks want to talk about race, then yes, we are Black Americans but we are Americans.
