  1. I am so late🤦🏾‍♀️ but glad I got to listen in the end, bless you & your Mrs for treating this topic, nothing but the truth as always👍🏾👌🏾👍🏾👌🏾👍🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

  2. Do not speak english TO YOUR KID in your house ever .Always speak to in your tribal language to them and let them always speak back to you too in that tribal language if posible with incentive . As for english language they will automatically learn how to speak english in schools and thier enviroment . i'm referering to Africans living in the western world now. That's what somalians chinese, indians that i know did to thier kids living in the uk .But us Africans, we still subliminally practice no vernacular like they did to us in Nigerian schools back in the 80s lol

  3. Great video bro. Its nice to hear your wife's take on things. I think its definitely possible to raise kids with the right set of values in the western world, however, there are added challenges that kids are expose to various different environments. They hear things at schools. For example, there was a teacher who use to tell my younger brother that was helping my mom why was he doing that? We grew up eating dinner at home everyday together as a family, now this lady was telling my brother that he should spend is money recklessly on eating out. However, when your kids are well trained, they will be able to distill which advice are meant to help them grow vs which ones are meant to destroy their life. Also, parents please teach your kids about finance from the minutes they can understand the concept of money. Many young people are going about with so much debt in today's society because no one thought them that putting so much debt on credit card will have significant impact later down the line. Bro we are from the same State. That might explain why we have similar views on a number of issues.

  4. This is one of the best topics I've listened to on YouTube, thank you Phrankleen and Victoria. Nice soothing voice from Victoria too 👌👌👌🤗

  5. A very refreshing topic indeed! Mama Phrankleen is one intelligent woman!! …
It is very important to teach our children aspects of our culture, including our languages. Sadly, even parents in Nigeria are raising their children in "English only" households. The upward social and economic mobility that English provides partly underlies the trend. However, this kind of attitude undermines the cultural values and world view that can only be acquired through the lenses of our native languages. There is no excuse for the gross negligence of our languages. Even in families where both parents come from different ethnic groups (and where English becomes the default means of communication), the children should still be taught their parents' languages or at least one of the languages. If we don't arrest the disturbing trend, our languages will begin to die a slow death several generations down the road. Many years ago, a Canadian colleague traveled to Cameroun to research its languages. He interviewed an old man who was the sole surviving speaker of a particular language. On returning six months later to continue his research, he learned that the old man had passed, and with him the "wealth" of his language. How did this happen? The language began slowly losing its speakers with French colonisation and the imposition of French as the "superior" language. While this may be an extreme case of a "small" language dying, language loss is a common trend. It is eating into the fabric of some African languages both "big" and "small".

  6. Great topic.
We'll love to see/hear more of missus in your subsequent episodes

On the issue of our native languages, it's more appalling and disgraceful to hear Nigerian parents who reside in Nigeria proudly tell you that their children don't speak/understand Yoruba, for instance.
In their ignorance, they think it's elitist.

  7. Spot on about language! Immigrant parents need to learn that assimilation doesn't work. Teaching a child cultural pride will help them confidently take up their space in this world

  8. Thanks @Phrankleen on this topic, am a new dad and she is my first, truth be told am sometimes envisaging the right method, training and best way to bring her up, though I will not neglect the fact of also making sure the child is told about the culture and their role play in serving God. I like this Podcast, it’s educative to me. Kudos bro 👏

  9. Great topic so true what the both you have said!! I think part of are problem is that a lot of parents that are African and Jamaican!! Was not raise right in the face place for example beating shouting liaring… parents smoking weed lots drinking party!! Make children confuse life style too play apart…i could go on and on…….

  10. When you bring children into this world and raise them up, they don't owe you anything. You bringing them into this world was part of your OWN self accomplishment. Just pray your kids turn out to have humanity and show you kindness, but they honestly do not owe you anything.
