Goals should be to energize, expand and implement development in diverse areas so everybody can do for themselves. Freebies kill self confidence and demoralize people. Two things have mainly made DP William Ruto very popular with the general population. He identified himself with the common man ( he calls them hustlers ) which Raila had done for years and on top of it he truly comes from a hustling background and so the attraction to him because the people know that. They also know that Raila is not from a hustler background as much as he identified with them. Number two, the deputy president has identified himself with the church and noting that Kenyans gravitate towards the church due to their religious inclinations it has made it easy for the deputy president. The deputy president talked to kenyans of two things and they stuck in the mind of kenyans. How he sold chicken in sugoi and how he belonged to some Christian union in college and in the villages. So they Imagine a young man with a bible in one hand and holding up a chicken on the other. What picture comes in the mind of kenyans on Raila ?Look at the many churches spread in the country at virtually every place where people live in groups including work places , schools, and all such areas. Note that Kenya has more churches both registered and unregistered than all the schools and colleges in East Africa combined. So he, DP Ruto knows where to get the masses and how to relate with Religion which Raila missed. Kenyans don't understand money as such because it's not openly displayed so insinuations on Deputy president being corrupt may not work. Remember if you give out one million shillings out every Sunday for 52 weeks in a year . It will take more than 19 years years to distribute one billion shillings and The deputy president will be slightly over 71 years of age by the time he would be through and Raila would be around age 94 years. Don't underestimate the value of one billion if not more which now kenyans talk about so easily .
We need a referendum barring Raila from public participation as purnishment for always been the cause of bloodshed and violence in Kenya. Even the 2007/8 was Raila who refused to accept the defeat and fanned the fire of violence and then pointed a finger on his then deputy Ruto while he went on to become Prime Minister. A referendum on barring Raila from further political incitement and bloodshed is long overdue.
