Plane crashes on landing in South Korea

    #breakingnews #planecrash #southkorea

A passenger jet carrying 181 people has crashed at Muan airport in South Korea. At least 85 people are confirmed dead and dozens more injured, according to CNN. That number is expected to grow as recovery operations continue. The Jeju Air plane was carrying 175 passengers and six crew when it crashed upon landing just after 9am local time on Sunday 29th December 2024

“175 passengers, 6 crew members aboard plane crashed at Muan airport,” Yonhap news agency reported Sunday.

The crash is believed to have been caused by “contact with birds, resulting in malfunctioning landing gear” as the plane attempted to land at the airport in the country’s southwest, Yonhap reported.

Rescue authorities were evacuating passengers from the rear section of the jet.

A photo showed the tail section of the jet engulfed in flames on what appeared to be the side of the runway, with firefighters and emergency vehicles nearby. Two people have reportedly been rescued from the plane, according to the fire department.

The Engineered Material Arresting System (EMAS) should be implemented at airports because it could have prevented the severity of the Jeju Air Flight 2216 crash. If EMAS had been in place at Muan Airport, it would have safely decelerated the aircraft, preventing it from crashing into the barrier and breaking apart. Maybe could save all of them.

The plane landed intact with little damage albeit at close to 200mph. It would have come safely to a halt and all would have survived had it not hit an inexplicably placed concrete structure in the overrun section at the end of the runway.

That's what I can't stop thinking is why a cement wall at the end ,most probably would have Survived ,needed to be slowed and stopped maybe sand or grass I'm sure people know better than most what to use , not a wall to hit .

After the Itaewon incident, my Chinese friend predicted that an air crash would happen. His grandfather is a Feng Shui master in China. He said that South Korea’s national flag resembles China’s Bagua (Eight Trigrams) diagram but is missing four components. The Bagua symbolizes ‘mutual restraint and balance,’ and the absence of four trigrams leads to an imbalance among the remaining four elements—Heaven, Fire, Earth, and Water. Without balance, the middle ‘☯️’ of the flag lacks a stabilizing center (阵眼), thus requiring large-scale human sacrifices.

Fire corresponds to the South Korean subway arson case, Water to the Sewol ferry sinking, Earth to the Itaewon stampede, and Heaven to this air crash. Even eerier, the dates of major fatal incidents in South Korea in recent years almost all coincide with dates on the traditional Chinese calendar deemed ‘suitable for sacrifices.’

Looks like it was accelerating for a take off. Maybe the pilots thought the landing gear was down and decided to take off to clear the wall.

For all airlines in all countries, please prioritize the lives of passengers and focus on safety. And up to now there is no parachute jump seat feature like fighter pilots. Look at when fighter pilots jump from fighter planes and use parachutes when fighter planes experience an emergency. .This does not yet exist in public aviation in all countries. This should be used and used and established to protect the lives of passengers so that the aircraft system will forcibly eject passengers by parachuting when the aircraft detects danger. A safety system like this does not yet exist. That's what it is. My idea is that every passenger seat is given advanced parachute parachute technology. All of this aims to protect passengers. For example, if the plane is about to crash into a mountain, all passengers can jump up using a jump seat with a parachute during an emergency. This can be done on land, in the air or in the air. It is important that they all be able to get out of the plane immediately when the AIRCRAFT SYSTEM detects danger. Hopefully this can be realized in the future and become a valuable lesson to be more careful in all terrains, both land, water and air.

Personally, while I am not an aviation expert, I believe this tragic crash raises many questions that deserve further investigation. One possibility that has not yet been widely discussed is pilot suicide. Given the circumstances, this hypothesis cannot be entirely ruled out, especially considering the unusually high speed of the aircraft before the crash.

The pilot, with over 7,000 hours of flight experience, was highly skilled. Why, then, did he not maneuver to avoid the crash? Many aviation experts have suggested that this disaster could have been prevented. Even if a bird strike disabled one engine, the second engine should have been sufficient to maintain control. Additionally, procedures typically involve dumping fuel in an emergency to reduce the risk of explosion, yet this does not appear to have been done.

The distress call, "Mayday, Mayday, Mayday," suggests the pilot was in a state of panic. But what caused this panic? The mystery remains. Personally, I find it hard to believe that birds were the primary cause of the crash. While the control tower reportedly alerted the pilot to the presence of birds, that alone does not confirm they entered the engine or caused critical damage.

As a side note, this incident brings to mind Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, a chilling reminder of how we often attribute danger to nature without fully understanding the mechanics at play.

Finally, it’s worth considering the role of the wall in the crash's severity. If the impact had occurred in an open area rather than against the wall, the loss of life might have been significantly reduced. While the crash might have been unavoidable in those final moments, mitigating factors could have lessened the devastation.

This tragedy demands a thorough investigation to uncover the true chain of events.

Why is there a wall at the end of the runway, 100% fault of archtiects who designed this runway, most runways should end in empty land or at least the sea precisely for this scenario.
