Kenyean polao is indian biryani
I live in Asia and I eat prominently plain white rice, but damn, I’d love these dozens of interesting ways to eat it
The pilau isn't original. She's excluded most of the spices and Kenyans don't add tomatoes to pilau. That's fried rice: pilau njeri.
there are two species of rice: oryza sativa native to Asia and oryza glabirrema native to AFRICA. Rice was domesticated INDEPENDENTLY in Asia and Africa thousands of years ago. Until the very late colonial era and later the main rice grown in Africa was glabirrema varieties. Many glabirrema strains are still grown all over Africa, although sativa now dominates. Europeans found West Africans growing vast fields of glabirrema and various glabirrema strains were taken by European colonists along with experienced farmers to the Americas and one strain that became known as Carolina Gold was a major crop and the main rice grown in the US for a couple centuries until the Civil War era. Another glabirrema strain was red bearded upland rice which grows on dry land and hillsides. Thomas Jefferson imported a cask to the US to replace rice grown in flooded fields in heavily mosquito infested parts of the South, but because of the extra work required to grow and process it didn't catch on as a large scale commercial crop, but was mostly grown as a subsistence crop by slaves and free blacks. It's still grown as a small commercial crop in the Caribbean island of Trinidad where it was introduced by resettled black ex British Royal Marine soldiers who were originally runaway US slaves who joined the British ranks during the War of 1812.
You're welcome to the free lesson in "riceology" 👍

Jollof rice😛 and pilau rice 😍😛😛 for me😍
Have African American friends eat the first rice for the first time and it hit them in the soul.
Cabo Verde party rice is not "Arroz de marisco" (Sea Food Rice) is actually "Arroz de Atum"(Tuna Rice) ou Arroz com Tudo(Rice with everything you have in your fridge ). We do have Sea Food Rice tho, but it's definitely not Party Rice and that's not the way to prepare it .
I love indian and African rice… They got such a non sticky texture which i just can't stop chewing ❤️
Hey,what type of rice are you using?
Loved all the food variety, so different from the usual butter+salt+pepper+cheese routine. The Somalian chef gets extra points for eating with her hands. Pure bliss moment for any Indian like me.
Is the rice non cooked befor they add to ingredients or is it already cooked
Must be an aphrodisiac, those African brothers can't dip enough. Walking baby makers. I lives jn Paris with a group of Africans and no matter how BIG how little, those guys were addicted and hypnotized. Walking Baby makers
Party rice sounds like jambalaya or a gumbo from down south in the United States.
Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean has a popular dish called "pelau" (pronounced 'pay – lao), similar to Kenyan pilau but without potatoes.
Good to see my fellow Ghanaians creating food content
Wonderful dishes!
