His citizenship had been revoked before he burned the passport. He burned it to show that he will not be blackmailed with the passport.

He is right to defend the idea of freedom in Africa. He is right to advocate for human fulfillment for all in Africa. But after having burned his French passport in public, I was encouraged by public applause. He is wrong to use a diplomatic passport he received from Niger to go to Paris. Because, if we put ourselves at their place, we wouldn't be happy. We will perceive it as a form of unacceptable contempt.
We all want the best for Africa and for Africans. But that doesn't equate to a right to do everything, to disrespect others.
