The agency added that some of those who died were elderly or suffering from chronic diseases.
The official Saudi Press Agency said that more than three-quarters of those who died did not have official permits allowing them to be there, and walked under direct sunlight without proper shelter.
The pilgrims performed the rituals this year during a severe heat wave. Temperatures sometimes exceeded 50 degrees Celsius (122 Fahrenheit).
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced the death of at least 1,301 pilgrims this year, most of whom did not obtain a permit for Hajj, explaining that they walked long distances in extreme heat.
