Your so lucky your kids still enjoy your company, particularly in that highly stressed and uncomfortable environment, and when they are at an age when they should be out with their peers finding their way in life. I would have tossed my parents overboard by now.
I've sailed Golden gate bridge San Francisco to Monterey California you get out there by half Moon Bay pillar point Mavericks then you get on down there up out of consumption point by Davenport that's where the monster waves are at. 😎👍
That's pretty cool sailor you have all cool electronics I've done lots of sailing in my past days there's two issues here I had a mono Hall Catalina yacht liver board 30 ft that style of a boat that's like a needle sewing through the waves I've gone up against 20 to 30 ft waves breaking on a aft put the mast and sails in water what saved me how to custom rotor 7 ft by 2 inch thick 15 inches width. Those catamaran yachts double Hall the issue they have two rudders undersized you cannot control these yachts they start doing 220s degrees and they're going to flip over. High winds create extra 4 ft on 8-ft rollers and they get large. This style of a yacht not good for global. 😏👍
Where’s the life jackets?
Bare poles, 32 knots of wind , the boat is dancing about, big swells and they’re playing out on deck!! Worrying about Rocks! No safety precautions, not even life jackets! What’s going on?
Kudos sailors, this takes a lot of ball for so many reasons. Congratz.
heaving to ?
Don’t you fear pirates near Yemen?
What an experience!
That Cold Black water, shes the Devil's daughter! Hard! Cold! And mean!
Wasn’t that bad at all
Sailing in pirate seas is brave
isn't there a war going on there
Wow, not sure I like that
Im surprised in these kinds of seas theres no pfd and no one is clipped in. Man over board would have no hope of survival or retrieved
Yuppies and their yuppie kids being yuppies. Thanks YouTube
wouldn't want to sail in those waters, and not because of the weather
bored
Guys, we met when we were all in Hollywood a few years back. Everyone should have on an PFD in those seas – you could never pull off a MOB recovery quickly if someone goes over. Good luck and safe passages!
WOOOOOOW 🤔🤔🤔👍💪
It's climate change – get rid of all that fossil fuel and reset the deadline from 2030 to next year. Vote for Biden/Newsom
Rich kids problems. 🙄
Sailing to the Red Sea? Um….My advice to you folks is to splice the main brace and hightail it out of there.
Bet your glad u aint there now.. the Pirates would be boarding you in a flash…..!!
You must be rich to traverse these treacherous waters. As a Somali I come from a long line of sea men these are not friendly waters. The least of your worries are pirates. It’s the ocean itself is highly unpredictable. Glad you guys made it safe. But you basically gambled your life along with your children’s lives. If one of them fell in. No one can rescue you. Seems very irresponsible.
You need nautical charts not satellite overlays lol…fairwell and adieu….
Over dramatized.
Beautiful but just watching this makes me sick to my stomach. I can barely handle cruise ships.
Don't nautical charts show the exact location of rocks and underwater obsructions?
Couldn't you have deployed drogues to slow down the speed? Or would then the following seas been more problematic ?
You don't have Sonar?
WOW not a single Life jacket or safety line in site when the bad weather hits. Not trying to be rude but all it takes is one slip and good like getting turned around to save a child or anyone who falls overboard. other than that great job by the captin under stress.
My ship came out of the Gulf of Aden last year. Opposite direction. We hit 6-8 meter swells immediately, had a night of calm as we passed through the lee that Socotra provides, and then hit 10-12 meter swells for the next week. Really, really fun times. 😂
The Indian is often very calm. But that stretch is super gnarly. The current flows up the east coast of Africa for thousands of miles, suddenly gets redirected east, and then hits the bottom of the Arabian Peninsula. Creates a very unstable area for winds and currents. Couple that with coming into it all at the height of the monsoons? We were lucky that’s all we saw.
I would not like to be out in it on a sailboat.
A trick I learned trawling for salmon when wind and current pushed me into a too fast trawl…. Tie a couple buckets off the stern. Works like a drag or a small sea anchor to slow your pace.
Get you some flex seal/tape
And what would you have done had you seen pirates on radar? You ain't out running them
Crazy to be traveling to places like this🙄
…rich people problems 😂
No personal safety gear being worn in these conditions is very risky! 🙏🏼
"You're gonna need a better boat "
Anywhere near Somali with your loved ones is irresponsible IMO.
I love sailboat content so awesome
I wouldn't sail there now with the Houthis sinking ships.
They are showing a cavalier attitude to the height of those seas and not a life jacket in sight…
Cheap a$$ boat
Sailing up the coast of Somalia is the epitome of taking a gamble 100%!
those bottom emergency exit hatches always freaked me out on catamarans. one where my rational has to fight my emotional to convince that it is safe. a hard one
Cheesy ass boat design for any rough seas. These are best as just Bay Boats and short Island jumping. Open seas is stupid with this design.
