After a rough few days in Sierra Leone, we have made it onwards to the next West African country of Guinea (Conakry).

It’s been a wild 2.5 days here so far, from the challenging roads to the (once again) disgusting…

I apologise for our stupid policemen. I wish you had a different experience.
You missed the great spots mainly: The islands, the Jardin d'Eden, the waterfall, mountains, etc.

im in guinea my parents tricked me into coming and are now forcing me to stay. I wish id never came i hate this place so much. I really wish guinea had a deporting system so they could send me back with the evil and corrupt police. What really makes me mad is that when i asked my parents why we all couldnt stay here they told me there are no good paying jobs and they couldnt make a living here. If they know they cannot make a living i really dont know why theyre forcing me to stay here i really hate it here so much id rather be dead than spend another day in this country. Everyone is rude, the kids the adults the locals, everyone. I spent a year here so far and school was the worst, especially becase the schools speaking language is french which ive never studied before. All the kids spoke of me sometimes in my face because i didnt speak french. Every chance they got they would steal my stuff beat me curse me and went so far as to SA me. What i really hated about that school is that whenever i reported it to the staff, they never really cared, since i didnt know anything in french and couldnt learn anything due to the change. Since i didnt speak french none of the teachers even bothered to help me in class, sometimes making fun of me, and treating me like i had some type of disorder. Just because i couldnt speak french btw. Over that school year i kinda learned how to speak it but not fluently. I was never treated normal, even though i could speak mandingo, most of the people could only speak fula and sousou. I swear i hate this place so much i would rather be executed than live another year here. Which my parents are planning on doing btw. I dont know what ive done to deserve this. Anytime i ask to go back to the us my parents says stuff like "ill be there in a few months" or "my friend will be there soon to pick you up" and it never happens. I genuinely dont understand why they are forcing me to stay here. Even last night there was traffic and the way these people drive is serious concerning. Its like they dont care about anyones life, not even theyre own lives. I am always seen as a foreigner even though i speak the laguange and am from here (i really wish i wasnt from this country). Apparently, my parents knew what they were doing from the beginning and didnt make a last second choice when theey said that i will be staying here and left. Everytime i express how i feel about staying here they disregard it. I wish i had normal parents i hate my parents and this country so much, i cant even describe how much i hate them right now. I used to be such a good kid in the us, i never failed a grade, never had to repeat, and was never in a special education class. They will probably make me stay here until im an adult. I am currently with my aunt which i hate. Shes just a stupid morbidly fat women who uses me whenever she wants money. Her son is even worse. He steals from me all the time and whenever i tell my aunt she doesnt do anything about it. The first week of being here my phone got stolen by someone. That shouldve been enough of a red flag but nope. I am one year into being in this shithole country and i cant to end it all.

After living in west africa for ten years you realise that the entire region is doomed because of the absolute epidemic of corruption. What it does to the population is horrific and it will never stop under these regimes.

In Guinea, Conakry the officials are full of violence and they got the most corrupt officials in West Africa

I hope that either you or Alvaro pay Marlon all the money he’s giving in bribes? They are asking for bribes because they see both of you, you have a history of being cheap. And not paying for gas, food, etc for those who are kind enough to ram you around

You keep saying "riots" but I'm sure you mean protests. Riots suggests destruction of property, throwing of molotov cocktails or rocks etc but that isn't what happened, is it?

In regards to corruption… very easy for u to sit on ur high horse and say these people are evil… but what would u do in the same position. Not saying I condone corruption, but these officers are barely getting paid sufficient wage, they have to feed their families… that $20 u gave him could sustain his family for months
