  1. For those watching… don’t go to Pats or Genos… go to Jim’s or Steve’s that’s where real Philly go. Only tourist go to pats and genos. Also try a buffalo chicken cheesesteak. And the reading terminal market where they went is my favorite place to go when I visit my home (Philly). Chinatown there also has some AMAZING hidden gems

  2. You should try hooking up with the locals more, definitely hit all the tourist spots and didn't crack the surface of what Philadelphia has to offer.

  3. The fact that they don’t even use real cheese on their famous sandwich tells you all you need to know about Philadelphia. Cheese whiz is not cheese. Frauds.

  4. Recently visited PA & NJ and have got to say that I was disappointed with all the cheesesteaks I tried. Don’t know why, but I was expecting better bread & tastier meat AT LEAST comparable to what I make at home… although I learned what I make isn’t technically cheesesteak since I use actual cuts of ribeye instead of chopped/shaved beef. Yes I tried the tourist traps and yes I tried the mom & pop/hole in the wall shops and all left me wanting 😢

  5. As a person from the Philadelphia area, both provolone and whiz are usually options at cheesesteak places. You usually also have other options like American cheese. As for the places you went, Pat's and Geno's are the really touristy spots. My personal go to places are Dalessandro's or Jim's on south street but I won't be a snob and say that the sandwiches you get at those places are bad. They're way better than cheesesteaks that you'll get outside of the Philly area but just not places I'd go out of my way to go to.

  6. I never lived in Philly
    But visited many times
No one and I mean no one likes Geno’s the place is trash
    Pats is average at best
John’s Roast Pork and Angelo’s are the only two worth going for a cheesesteak
    And it’s not even close

  7. I see u guys got sucked into the 2 cheesesteak tourist traps….YUCK! I was born and raised in Philly so I know a thing or 2 about cheesesteaks. If these were the las places on earth for a cheesesteak…I still woudnt eat here. Just NO!
