She literally looks like Vivi but brown, and I’m pretty sure Oda himself has admitted that he should have made Vivi darker seeing as she’s from Alabasta, which in literally in the middle of a desert. I’m just wondering if she can pull of the blue hair
It's just harder to portray dark skin tones in a black and white medium like manga. So characters end up being mostly white. And yes, it can be done, but it takes more time to get those shadings right and manga is a very time intensive art style.

Cobra is fair skinned in the manga so this isn't a bad change, plus if you're up to date with the manga you would know Vivi's name is more relevant than her skin tone.

Oda meant alabasta to be a land thats a mix of India and Egypt thats why both cobra and vivi are indians
Alabasta’s main inspiration is Egypt, a place where nearly everyone has brown skin; people upset about this are basically just mad the live action is trying to better resemble the real world 🤷🏾♂️

Honestly the source material is a black and white manga anyway where character colors are inconsistent. The anime made her pale just because. The actress’ skin color shouldn’t be an issue but people just wanna be racist.

On one hand I get it, its ultimately odas choice, but on the other hand, the man has been wrong before, just look how he bastardized chopper over the years into nothing more than a cutesy mascot. I dunno, I feel like if he wanted the people of alabasta to look more indian, he should have made that call in the manga, you know? Though I will say, this is mostly down to me loving how vivi looks in the anime, she's probably my favorite female design in the series so I would have loved to see her look similar in LA one piece.
