Ogoni Clean-up: FG Has Not Contributed N1 to HYPREP – Akpobari
The federal government has not fulfilled its commitment to the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) in Ogoni. A $200 million yearly agreement for five years, reached in Geneva, is not meant for cleanup—it is a startup grant. The federal government was supposed to pay a percentage; however, all the money that has been used so far…

Nigeria government want use ogoni oil open another oil station 4 Fulani 😂😂😂😂 no way
Tinubu is only interested in Ogoni oil, period
No oil exploration should take place until Ogoni land is completely cleaned up. The aquatic environment has been destroyed due to wicked drilling.
Late Ken Saro Wiwa’s right place must be restored and apology rendered
The federal Government just need to creat an "Oil land state" for the Ogonis to settle their years of grievances
So Tinubu is only concern in exploring oil
There seems to be two factions of the Ogoni people; the Ogoni 9 vs Ogoni 4. until these two factions are harmonized i doubt any lasting resolution to the Ogoni problem.
Interesting
A rabble rouser from Ogoni !!!
Can anyone make any argument or case for why Ogoni can't be a state in Nigeria, so should remain in a Rivers State that continue like Nigeria to disrespect, marginalize and suppress or oppress her? The recent meeting in Abuja with Mr. Tinubu speaks to the case of marginalization and repression, where a Rivers State governor, Fubara and Wike, his rival, were present in a purported Ogoni meeting as though Ogonis are incapable of meeting the Nigerian government, whoever or entity without Rivers State government. Rivers State which Ogonis worked hard with others to demand its creation in 1967, is an entity that deprive the oil Ogoni its rights, dignity, justice, development and peace.
If Ogoni oil is great at creating most of these states and Abuja, then Ogoni should also be great at getting a state to benefit directly from its oil. Or do you or anyone have any reason Ogoni can't be a state so should remain in a Rivers State that continue like Nigeria to disrespect, marginalize and suppress her? Rufai my man, you should have known better! Meanwhile, have you actually seen and read the Ogoni Bill of Rights or you spoke based on hearsay? All current states in Nigeria are self-determined except that oil money make the non-oil states not quite self-determined but dependent, at best lazy with a false sense of entitlement. Simply put: Ogoni demands a state in Nigeria that will allow her to control its political, socioeconomic and cultural affairs like the current 36 states but especially 25 of them created solely on ethnic prescription: about 11 to 12 for Hausa-Fulanis, 6 for Yorubas, 5 for Igbos, 2 for Ibibios, and 1 for Ijaws, most of which were created with Ogoni oil money.
Mr. Rufai Oseni, I respected you so much with the believe that you were in-depth in researching stories, documents, information, events and more before drawing anything close to conclusion. On the Ogoni demand stipulated in the Ogoni Bill of Rights (OBR), you're a gazillion times wrong. You failed flat to the grounds to have claimed (I will not say that you lied because you appear open to learning except you continue in the same fashion) that Ogonis want a country thus asked Comrade Celestine Akpobari if Ogonis are no longer asking for a country. He answered you correctly by saying that self-determination isn't seeking a country. This is especially where the OBR is absolutely clear on the Ogoni demand for adequate representation as of right in all Nigerian National Institutions. Those seeking a country will not make such demand to be part of all national institutions of another country. Ben Ikari
Which kind of journalist are these?
He is making sense …
APC is treacherous
Is Mr. Celestine Akpobari feigning ignorance of these facts? 🤔
1. The Federal Government on 15th July 2020 opened a fresh bid to select contractors to provide potable water in oil spill impacted Ogoni communities in Rivers State.
2. On the 22nd March 2021 while flagging off the construction of six water facilities in Ogoniland, Rivers State; the then Minister of Environment, Mohammad Abubakar announced that the Federal Executive Council had on March 3, 2021, approved the award of six water projects for the supply of portable drinking water in Ogoniland, at the cost of over N6billion.
3. Again on the 10th of May 2023, the then Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, disclosed to journalists that the Niger Delta Ministry approved another N22.8bn for the second phase of the Ogoni water project and N107bn for the central remediation of newly-identified hydrocarbon-impacted sites.
4. The Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) on Wednesday, 26th July 2023 commissioned its first water scheme in Barako community, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The current Minister of Finance Wale Edun; who was then Chairman Governing Council and Board of Trustees of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) and the current Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Amina J. Mohammed (former Minister of Environment) will have some explanations to give.
They are so disingenuous to this man, totally trivialized his case.
Nigeria is full of deceit.
the are busy fighting and dragging igbos on tiktok as there problem
Arise tv don’t sit on fence to be Monday morning quarter back You have investigative journalist let them go and make a film of that place Vegetation are all destroyed to benefit the oligarchs from the north that contribute nothing to the economy Saro wiwa spoke for his people and was hacked to death
The people in charge of the Ogoni matter who are from Ogoni land, a lot of them are greedy and selfish. All the monies given to them over the years, the ordinary Ogoni people did not enjoy the benefits. Too many lies! You can see that this man is very evasive in his response to Rufai's questions.
Tinubu should go and sell the cocoa in the west and let his northern friends sell the solid minerals over there to generate funds for Nigeria..since the niger Delta is insignificant
We need a state, that's all.
The problem of the Ogoni people are their leaders.
The hypreb is the worst people we have seen.
He is here claiming that kobo hasn't been paid into the clean up project and at the same time denying not seen the account published by BoT. What a lier!
Thank you Rufai
Can Arise do a report – A film – on this ogoni issue. The report should include all stakeholders. A good documentary
D level of injustice done to Ogoni Ethnicity is grossly annoying.
You are not the majority, the Ijaws are the majority. Please remember this man that the oil of ijaw land are also use to develope the Ogoni land.
I don't know how you can explore oil and dredge from certain areas. And the areas are the least developed. In the state of Alaska, every Alaskan and people that have lived in Alaska for 2-3 years receives up to $3000 every year from the oil profits. Every Saudi Arabians receives free education up to university level, free medical treatment, and stipends. So what does the Nigerian government give to people from the areas where oil is dredged? The whole area is polluted. Instead, states that they have no oil are the ones enjoying the oil benefits. I don't how any right thinking person expects these people not to revolt.
"COMMON SENSE! LA'🔥🔥🔥 IS CHILD' PLAY. NNPCL, SHELL, HALLIBURTON, CHEVRON & OTHERS MUST CLEAN UP AFTER THEIR MESS B4 ANY DRILLING" ❤🇬🇧 ❤
Give this man food 😂
This one just need money. 😂
So, Arise News has turned Thieftinubu’s Government spokespersons. What a shame!
One correction: Ogoni is NOT the majority in Rivers state. Other points he made are well taken.
Abatinubu
Oroni people must not allowed their Oil to be drilled and stolen away to criminal Thieftinubu government. So, Abati thinks that Ogoni natural resources must be taken away by useless Federal Government while there is not tangible development in Ogoni land?
Things are happening in this our country
