The Wannsee conference was held on January 20, 1942.
In my opinion, the majority of the German population already had some knowledge in 1941 about the murder of the Jews from whispered reports from soldiers back home on leave and German civilian workers who had witnessed mass killings in the East.

Hanson seems to make some slips with dates when discussing the Wansee conference and the peak of the mass killing of the Jews in , I think , July 1942 to January 1944.
